So the CET are unlikely to get an interview with the club in the circumstances.

It's time for Les to step up to the plate!!!!

The owners would like to sell our training ground to become houses.

Perfect time for Les to investigate.

Why do they want to do this?
Is it likely to happen?
What are the plans to satisfy Sports England for replacement pitches.
Is the CET story correct?
Where,how and when will we acquire a new training facility?

Come on Les we are all depending on you, it really is your time to shine and an opportunity to prove that you really are an investigative journalist seeking out the truth.

I'm sure he will come up with a good excuse to cover them for the housing thing; he likes to point the guns towards the council as much as possible. He is "friends of friends" with Fisher and may be actual mates with him himself.

I still have hope for him.
If he actually tries he is quite good at digging. However can he actually really do it if he doesn't fancy exposing the truth that he discovers?

I have never seen him produce a "smoking gun" that tells me the council have done anything particularly wrong. Lots of irrelevant / minor stuff which he has tried to trump up with a very anti-CCC tone, but nothing really earth-shattering.

Of all the different people mentioned on here Les Reid is the only one I've ever spoken to. It was during Sixfields 2 or 3 times and he seemed pretty pally with Tim Fisher but the main thing was he was obsessed with the council. To be fair he seemed to be a bit of a sad case.

CCFC is still being squeezed by all sides and has been treated appalling. All parties in this mess should be held to account, should they not?
The Telegraph working with the council to bury news stories are hardly in a position to start passing judgement either.

No doubt when SISU leave they'll congratulate themselves for getting rid of them like they did when the club moved back to the Arena. It's a shame that it has always been far too late. Any attempt to return to the Ricoh or to get SISU should have been done a long time ago.

Why no tweets on the CCFC housing project that is going to effect CCFC and is nothing to do with anyone else at all? Why isn't he questioning SISU's long term vision for the club? Where does selling Ryton fit into this vision? Clearly selling Ryton is a means to an end. What is the end? Is it paying ARVO a lump sum and then renting facilities elsewhere? Is it part of something that is going to bring the club forward as part of a long term vision? All questions more pressing to CCFC fans than a housing project that doesn't effect the club in Whitley, yet he's trying to make out that it's the housing project that doesn't effect the club that's what is bothering our fan base. That's bollocks and you know it is.

He does come across as another biased person in this whole saga.

We need to be questioning all sides, instead of just having a go at one single entity, be it council or owners.

Suggesting that a housing project that doesn't effect CCFC and actually is probably something quite positive for the city over a housing project that not only directly effects CCFC but is also being driven from within without being part of any known vision is what's bothering CCFC fans is a detachment from reality. I can't believe anyone on a CCFC forum would actually question someone raising that point let alone going on to argue the point. Didn't the Observer post the news a couple of years ago about the housing at Ryton?

I don't know who actually wrote it though. I can't find anything about it on the telegraph (so not saying they didn't report it, I just can't see it).

I personally find it stranger on a CCFC forum that people are going out of their way to try and kill CCFC to support a different football team, I guess it is just opinion.

If a proportion of fans are, you would definitely find some on here.

Pre Les and nowhere near happening at the time. Unlike now. Some people have a warped idea of what the best way of getting rid of SISU is that's for sure but when someone chooses to not understand why a journalist is out of touch considering the possible ramifications of what's happening regarding Ryton they're in the same class.

Exactly. It certainly doesn't effect CCFC, why would we be concerned about it. It's rubbish and cheap journalism. If he said environmentalist were up in arms about it over green belt, fair enough. If he said that the community of Whitley were up in arms about it that might also be fair enough but to suggest what he did is nonsense. Sure there's a few crack pots on here who will shout stone them at the mere mention of wasps but even their concerns aren't really because they're CCFC fans and it's something CCFC should be concerned about. Because it isn't. Unlike the CCFC housing project.

Surely the link is that it is Wasps doing it, and it is at the Higgs. The same place as the academy that we might not be able to play in? The same if in some way it is to do with them being here in the first place, which does impact CCFC?

If Wasps had bought some land in Buckinghamshire and were working with their council I would agree it's not really much to do with us.

So what if Wasps are doing it. It doesn't effect CCFC any more than if Wimpey Homes were doing it. Is it at Higgs? I thought it was on land purchased from STWA?

And either way Nick it still isn't as pressing as the potential and real danger to Ryton by the CCFC housing plan's.

At what point are you going to realise that the real and immediate danger to CCFC is coming from within. My guess is when we've dropped down a couple of leagues, are playing in a half empty BPA that's never been redeveloped and we're training at memorial park.

No its not that is it. There's two questions it raises for me. If Wasps, and I don't buy this its not Wasps its their owner and Chief Exec, own land right next to the Higgs why could that not be used for their training centre, essentially expand the Higgs. That would meet their promise of a new facility and increase the sporting provision in the city.

Secondly given that ST previously applied to build houses there and were refused there should be some digging by our press into what has happened. Appreciate its a different application and things change but its worth some further investigation.

And of course it goes to show that Wasps are about as truthful as SISU given that they outright stated they were not interested in property development.

I disagree, the way wasps hedge fund have strode into the city and started putting their mark everywhere should be scrutinsed, especially when their actions could have a potential affect on already established sports clubs in the city, (though I accept that that probably isn't the case in this instance).

Let's face it, the expansion of our two established universities has come under the microscope enough, so I don't see why wasps should be any different.

Surely who owns the land isn't too difficult to work out. It will be recorded as a matter of public record at the land registry office I'd imagine.

I'm not defending them but didn't the not interested in property development refer specifically to the Ricoh? Hence car park C wasn't included.

As in was this all agreed at the start in that secret meeting between the council and Wasps where suddenly it went from being a close vote to unanimous?

Certainly if there is some larger agreement at work which benefits Wasps then that would be something you'd expect the press to look into.

I'm pretty sure if Sepalla and Fisher started a new company and purchased land adjoining Ryton the CT would be digging around.
