Time to forget the past ? (1 Viewer)

I will continue to praise them as and when deserved e.g. the appointments of Boddy and Robins, continuing funding the academy, providing competitive playing budget. But too much damage has been done for a fresh start. They've shown their true colours; they cannot wipe the slate clean and start again.

It's not about forgetting the past, it's just about supporting CCFC. (The same as it has always been).

The fact is we've seen that they are stubborn and we can't influence their decisions. Therefore we just need to take what enjoyment we can from the club - SISU will go when they're ready and when it's the right business decision to do so, not before, so we might as well get on with it. No need to like them or hate them in equal measure, it's wasting energy that could be used to support the team.

The thing that gets me is the past isn’t even particularly a memorable time , we struggled almost constantly and had 1 glorious day in 87 .
The better time to support Coventry was the jimmy hill era up until 67 surely .
Either way support your damn football club and spare us the nonsense .weve all been through the same misery the stayways are nothing special , they never had a special kind of misery separate to the rest of us .
We get it , 20 years ago we played arsenal and Man Utd every season and now we don’t .
If 2 trophies in 14 months won’t bring you back then I’m afraid little else will besides top flight football, and it’s time to move on

If there is one thing that SISU have proved it is that they don’t give a monkeys about what the fans think, say or do. Nothing we can do now will change that so we may as well just support the team and see what happens. If we get back to the championship we instantly become much more attractive to any potential buyers so that is now our best route to being rid of SISU for good.

Supporters can’t really do a lot about owners, a lot of Man United fans hate the Glazers and their policies and even money bags Avramovic has his critics at Chelsea I don’t know if it’s sisu to hate or Tim Fisher, who has stated he’s not part of sisu. It was he who was the architect of how the football clubs been run, not paying accounts on time leaving us unable to sign players, Northampton and the looking for a new ground saga, telling us there were two sites identified etc,etc,

i agree this years l1 budget will tell us more about how far we can go under them as owners

like i said if we get back to championship it will have OVERALL been a fine tenure for them lol

Shouldn't ever forget the past but I think it's important for all parties to continue this momentum and move on as a club by removing the toxicity that's existed since relegation from the Championship.

You don't need to forget or forgive. All you need to do is get your season ticket or go to as many games as you can and support the manager and players, that's what's important. We have a real chance to build on from this season now, please don't let sisu get in the way.

I think the momentum is there, winning at Wembley the way we played the last few games think most on here know their football and for me since xmas we have slowly developed into a good side that will get better. Having seen that dirge of a game between Rotherham and Shrewsbury I have no fears at all regarding division one, as said there’s momentum there it’s down to our owner not to lose OR abuse it.

It won't be long until people start trying to crank the negativity up, that goes without saying.

I agree with all on this subject we will never forgive or forget what SISU have done to our club . We cannot and will not influence any of there decisions as we’ve seen in the past , the most important thing now is to support the manager and the team on the pitch . For the first time in a long time there’s a real good connection and so much passion between the players , manager and the supporters of the club and long may that continue.

Given you see wasps have done nothing wrong and we should still honour our original rent agreement I’m not overly surprised

We should certainly have renegotiated the original agreement rather than simply renege on it because doing so suited us. That action brought shame on the good name of our club. As for Wasps, no I do not see what they've done wrong.

There’s a lot I’d forgive but I struggle that they took my team away from Coventry for the season!!! I’m sure they feel the council behaved appallingly too. They all need to grow up and behave like adults but won’t. My team my support will be there come what may

I will never forget good times and the people who gave us them i e 5 promotions FA cup and Checkatrade trophy so why should I forget the bad times and the ones who gave us them reneging on contracts as oucho said. Making no effort to buy the stadium saying it was to dear and then saying Wasps should have paid lots more .Treating Higgs the way they did , I could go on but worst of all the move to Northampton being the worst . Forget the past never and no way would I ever forgive SISU'

Christ, win a couple of games in the bottom division that they took us to, and suddenly SISU have learned from their mistakes.

What would you know about our club? It’s obvious you are some kind of council / PR weirdo whose done his work here but decided to hang around.

I don't know about forgive and forget, too much damage for that, but it can be (and should be) parked whilst we concentrate on supporting Robins and the lads, and push them on another promotion charge, and whist we're at it enjoy the football.

I was a believer in nopm while we were in Northampton, I have neither the time nor the money for a season ticket, but get to games when I can since that debacle. I still don't spend as much as I used to, and I won't even consider forgiving them until we are where we were when they took over (top half of the championship), but they haven't done much wrong in the last year (on the footballing side of things at least). They deserve some credit for that at least.

What I don't even understand is why lurch to mentioning them at all atm?

They're total shysters (in a figurative and football owning sense!) and that ain't going to change. It's the people who want us to forgive and forget who end up being most irate whenever the next drama pops up.

Why not at least give us a week or two of some kind of pleasure, without raising the blood pressure with statues of Joy?

The summer will be the test, we have been dropping divisions for years now and had to cut our cloth accordingly but now we are going the other way so are they going to step up to the plate and invest. The issue is that a lot our fans expect too much and if we aren’t signing premier league players they aren’t happy.

To be honest, i only care about the team and how we do which is why this season has been so good however we are only returning to where we should be.

Can we please stop making claims about SISU funding this or that, what a great job they have done. They have kept a handle on the finances steadied the ship for now, I accept that, but that should be basics not cause for congratulation.

The only thing they have funded over the last few years has been the shortage on cashflow caused by the drop in attendances as we dropped through the divisions. They had to make the loans to do otherwise would have meant the club not paying its bills. It is not in SISU's interest to see CCFC fail at the moment and they act as bank of last resort to cover the shortage. That shortage being caused by the planned budgets (that were reduced year on year) not actually matching the revenue the club brought in. Indeed the emergency funding that was put in during 2016 and 2017 has in part been repaid at a time where the club is desperate for funds.

What they did was let MR do his thing within the revenue that the club could generate. That revenue, derived in large part from the fans, paid for the Academy, paid for the day to day running of the club along with some player sales, sponsorship and league monies. The Academy spend is over 600k per year and it forms part of the operating costs which are basically covered by the club revenue. What budget did SISU provide ? All they said was they wouldn't draw the interest or loans down. As there was a shortage you could argue the financial planning failed. They have consistently said as has Fisher that the club must stand on its own two feet, the logic of that is there is no desire on SISU's part to fund anything unless they really are forced to

I would think that in L2 our wage bill actually went down. Think about it, where were the big earners, there was a large part based on academy and youngsters. Even then until the run in it was touch and go as to whether the club broke even. Promotion was vital to the budget this year. No we didn't sell many players in the season but I would think there were a few add ons received. In L2 they didn't need to spend big to make a difference, to have a chance - it is a poor division both in quality and finance

Their biggest contribution has been to stay in the background and quiet. They have over a couple of years steadied the finances, but we still make losses and still struggle with cash flow...... otherwise there would be no emergency loans in January 2016 & 2017. For once we got a slice of luck capitalised on it and gained some momentum, that was largely due to the hard work of MR and his team, the players buying in to it and a hard core of fans keeping faith.

It is possible to get out of L1 & L2 on a shoestring budget ................ the real test comes in the Championship, hopefully SISU will be long gone before that and CCFC will have ownerswho can really take us forward

Yes put the history behind us, I totally agree. Focus on the future, support the team in which ever way you can. BUT never stop holding our owners to account, even or perhaps especially when CCFC generates a bit of success for itself and the fans. CCFC achieved this year ....... the owners have a long way to go before they can make that claim. We are where we are because in large part it is due to them. Don't hold on to the past but please look at the reality nothing has changed for SISU or in how they operate

Mcginnity and his puppet master led us to sisu. All those two clowns were interested in was getting the ringmasters money back.

They sold everything that moved and signed up to a disgraceful arrangement with the council and that odious creature who married into the Higgs family,

Once that happened the club was totally doomed.

The fact we are still here and showing some minor recovery is s miracle.
