Looking at today's table and the top 7 teams at the end of play I can't see any others break into it. They look like pulling away now and the rest of us are playing for mid table and avoiding relegation.

Portsmouth
Luton
Sunderland
Peterborough
Doncaster
Charlton
Barnsley

We are worlds behind all of them at the moment. They've improved, we've falled apart.

Far too soon for the top 7 to already be decided I would say. We are not even half way through the season yet.

Too early to call the final 7 just yet.
However, the fact that we are now closer (points wise) to the relegation zone than we are the play offs speaks loudly. If we don't address the striker situation in January, we will be scrapping for our survival in L1 come the end of the season. That's something that's not too early to call. We can't score, and if you don't score you can't win. Fact.

People thought we'd be good for a play off spot at least at this point during the 15/16 season. Don't get me wrong we've got no chance of catching up, none whatsoever, but they aren't done and dusted yet.

No chance of catching up! I'm pretty sure this time in the very same season, everyone had as good as written off Barnsley.

Not saying that will happen to us in the very slightest but I don't think anybody can be written off after that!

Look past the results and look at the performances. Wins gained through the opposition being unable to hit a barn door and defeats from wasting sitters all over the shop with a manager who is scared of everyone we come up against. Mid table is where we will end up. We had it last season and came upon the winning formula by accident-better hope it repeats itself this time round.

January could change things..

Could get much worse if we sell some of our best players.

I don't think anyone is playing well enough to be worried about losing them

there's loads of examples in the lower leagues of teams in a lowly/mid table position putting good runs together post Christmas and getting the automatics or play offs.
Not saying we'll do it but it's hardly an unusual occurrence for some team to do it.

In this league get a few wins in a row and you shoot up the league as we did October lose three and down you go bit like like snakes and ladders l

At the moment looking at top seven is like going to a garage for a car you cant afford. Lets just get back to winning ways and then look. I am looking down rather than up at the moment which incidentally can be a be a good or bad thing depending on your activity.

I'd be happy with a couple of goals and really testing the goalkeeper and holding onto a lead.

We will go nowhere with strikers who don't score he needs to do something in January about it but unless we pick up a loan or do a bit of wheeling and dealing I can't see us improving much on the score

I think the introduction of natural wingers would help the balance of the squad massively, this I believe should help the ability to create opportunities helping our failings in front of goal a lot.

If we have the opportunity I’d find a natural target man to work off likely on loan given the time of season from a U23’s

A Ollie McBurnie type who was at Barnsley previously from Swansea maybe as opposed to a Tom Pope traditional battling target man to suit MR style.

Wingers is my priority in a difficult window

In my opinion, we now have no hope of promotion. We are too far behind. We'll probably finish lower mid-table.
What has really hurt us is injuries to Jones, Biamou and Andreu, poor signings (notably Chaplin) and negative tactics by Robins.
Plus, I don't think Burge is the goal-keeper we need to take us beyond L1.
