With Baker leaving and Nouble joining, by my reckoning we have

5 strikers - McQouid, Miller, Tudgay, Jackson, Nouble

but only 5 midfielders - Fleck, Thomas, Coulibaly, o'Brien and Swanson -- only one of t hose is a defensive midfielder and that is Thomas who should be released anyway IMO

As positive as it is to sign Nouble, I can't help but feel we are too light in midfield.

lad from Middlesborough can play as a DM
if we play 5 in midfield two will be wing backs so you would be perming 3 from 5. I suspect Lawton isn't far off a few sub appearances.

we can still sign out of contract and loan players...not panicking too much now, I think we have the right sort of numbers barring a couple of long term injuries...you have to cross that bridge when it crops up.

We definitely have 1 too many strikers, would have preferred the wages of Nouble put towards a new midfielder.

Or perhaps SP has 'done a Slager/Manset/Urquhart/Seaborne' and realised one of his new striker signings is crap and we needed a new one.

Using football manager 2013 to answer your question which I assume is accurate but letting you know it's coming from a computer game.

A League 1 match day squad can have no more than 5 loan players from clubs in the same nation.

we currently have 5, 3 from bournemouth and the 2 from yesterday, all end in Jan.

Daniels, Finch and Lawton all play CM as well. Bit random to bring in Tudgay and Jackson as well as two loanees though, never mind Miller and the original promise to have a spot for one of the kids. Seems a little scattergun, but only time will tell TBH, as long as one or two of them come off it'll be worth it.

It does seem a little odd, its almost as if SP is making it up as he goes along. Last season 1 striker for a long period, this season 5 strikers. Do we need 5 senior strikers?

Do you not think that's maybe the point? SP wanted options last season, didn't have any. He now does. You need a squad for this league and we have that.

Well for 1, it's too soon for the kids, they need to go out on loan first. Secondly, 2 of those players are on loan, so come January you're down to 3. So no, I don't think it's too many and I'm glad we have options coupled with the fact I'm not just finding something else to complain about (not aimed at you samo)!

So why say the kids will be involved if they won't? But anyway, 4 is plenty for me and 5 is more than the big clubs carry. And the loans may well end up here longer. I hope they do as that will mean they'll have done OK.
