This is a strange one, Toronto have joined League 1 and will be in the same division as Coventry Bears. That means they'll have a game at the Butts.

They were talking about this on the radio and apparently some people think that in the not too distant future (20 years was mentioned) union and league will be merged. I know very little about rugby so can't really pass comment on that.

The point I found more interesting was that they said if it was successful it would likely be expanded but with a limit on new teams being added it would mean existing teams moving.

Vancouver Wasps anyone?

I heard about this yesterday, they said they are playing games in blocks so come over and play 4 games and go back. They are paying for the away team to go over to Canada too.

The other option is that the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool will leave the PL and the CL will become a full season league around Europe.

Maybe chief but that has one thing against that and it's all those teams are used to winning and only one can win and one has to finish bottom and their fans will soon get bored of losing

This wont happen in our lifetime.

There may be a restructure of the CL to make it more of a league format but the English teams wont leave the PL.

They should just just return to the good old days of knockout and bring back the real uefa cup and the old cup winners cup

Canadian team Toronto Wolfpack will join the third tier of rugby league in England in 2017, the Rugby Football League (RFL) has confirmed.
The newly formed Wolfpack will play home and away League One fixtures in blocks of four or five and will bear the expense for flying visiting teams out for matches at the Lamport Stadium.
Former Bradford Bulls, Wigan Warriors and Great Britain coach Brian Noble has joined as director of rugby, with Paul Rowley, formerly of Leigh Centurions, taking up the position of head coach.
"It is with great pleasure that I can confirm Toronto Wolfpack's entry into Kingstone Press League One next season," said RFL chief executive Nigel Wood in a statement.
"We have worked closely with the Canadian club'' officials and investors in the last few years and have no doubts that Toronto Wolfpack will enhance a competition which has already established a reputation for welcoming new clubs.
