You would think they would be looking for witnesses for insurance also?
Wonder if there’s red light cameras on the junction
did you leave a contact number so the insurance could contact you?
It’s really a case of offering assistance and gauging whether the person is vulnerable at that moment in time.
Was in Whitley early this morning, and a range rover raced past me about 15 miles over the speed limit towards a set of red lights, and then ploughed right through them. The guy broke hard in the middle of the junction and hit a small car coming across through greens.
Guy got out, and the old lady driving the car was really shook up, the cars definitely a write off. Apparently she was about to give it to her granddaughter as a gift for getting her A-levels. They exchanged info and everything, but I felt like the guy was trying to coerce her into thinking it was just one of those things that happen.
I messaged the police as the whole incident didn't sit right with me. But they said that the victim has to report what happened if they're going to look at it, and that there was no evidence anyway. Also, they said the police don't prosecute traffic offences unless an officer witnessed it on site. I know the last bit is complete rubbish.
Is there anything I can do, or is it just a case of letting it go?
They will investigate immediately if there has been a serious injury or death.
If/When you are approached as a witness by the insurance companies in question for your version of events you mention the reason for the collision being because he ran a red light, that will then be passed to the police as an incident package,
As part of their investigation/package the insurance company will obtain any CCTV footage from local business, ALS, dash cams ect.
It is at that point that the police will investigate/prosecute.
If she has your details then you would think you may have insurance in touch.

This is tangentially related, and I don't normally like the kind of threads that focus on such things but, this popped up for me this morning.Well I for one am shocked that the owner of a Range Rover was driving like a c**t.

Am genuinely amazed anybody came out of that car alive! One didn't...
Probably wasn't theirs!Seen 3 young lads on the road between Ansty and Brinklow the other day 1 was getting out of car just gone into the ditch all laughing their heads off. wonder if it was so funny when the recovery came and told them how much it would cost.
Think it was because the other 2 were standing on the road beside another car.Probably wasn't theirs!
