not sure if this posted elsewhere, but the European court are trying to rule that transfer fees are illegal
This would kill football, as you would be left with a World league and then amateur football

Hopefully this will get thrown out , but we thought the same at the time about the Bosman rule

It’s probably correct regarding buying and selling human beings

It’s not transfer fees that the ruling is for in isolation. The ruling queries a rule that allows teams to receive a transfer fee if a player is released with just cause.

essentially what could happen is players could be cunts to get their contracts terminated and move on a free

my take on it is that we’ll end up with Spanish style system where you agree a contract but out fee in every contact

But your buying out the existing contract, not the person, and the player has to agree to the new contract or he simply doesn't sign It.

It’s more nuanced than that. Relates to contract dispute Lassana Diarra had, who left a Russian club and then tried to join a new club with no transfer fee paid. They’re not just outlawing transfer fees.
