No not being dramatic. Even with a new manager we’ve got a problem where we have half the squad which are not good enough

It feels like a rebuild is needed on the rebuild 😂

Big player churn is needed to sort this mess out.

Defence all need to go for starters.

Midfield is so not dynamic or creative and have an abundance of attackers who don’t produce the goods consistently.

Cash in and rebuild Frank (or whoever comes in)

robins knew the start of the season the defensive players weren’t good enough, boddy said in an interview in the summer we’re 2 defenders short, even he knew, we recruited for a 4 3 3 hoping we’d just score more every game, just haven’t seen a good defender in any of them since they‘ve been here, need a McFadz type, watch them, nobody organises anything

For the majority of these players we need to try and make them work, they are on too big expensive contracts to try and palm off for a loss.

McFadz could only play in a back 5. But I assume you mean leader / communicator type of CB?

I wouldn’t mind Binks at LB if needed… he’s decent on the ball and obviously not a weakness in the air.
Probably him or Kitching at LB in the long run and there’s a decent bit of balance there ‘in theory’.

The big concern I’d have is their pace v wingers.

To be fair, we had a good spell with them last year and had a decent defence for most of it.

Not sure what’s changed but feel good coaching and motivation could go a long way without having to sell a bulk of the lads

If Robins knew the defensive players weren't good enough, why did he re-sign Binks?

It's a complicated squad to work with, so many different types of player, which on paper is handy for options but as soon as a starting player is out or dropped his replacement suits a totally different style. We then rejig something else in the team to balance it, then the line up changes again and it's back to square one. We don't have an identity and we've not signed players to fit a specific idea. Bit of a mess and maybe one or 2 leaving and the new manager bringing in a few of us own will address that?

This summer Wright will be off and likely MVE. Plus Vik moving means a decent kitty will be available. They won’t be staying for a 3rd season in the Championship.

I only come on this forum when I'm at work, so always the day or a couple of days after the games, and the headloss when we play badly is unmatched.

Burnley will be top 2 this season, the wages of there bench was equivalent to our starting line up. While we're no longer the poor fish in the pond, we're still nowhere near the top 3 in the Div.

Not to diminish what Carr has done but he's played the same formation against the 3 top teams in the division, it was bound to be found out eventually.

He's not a left back and not good enough to play there in our system, he should never have been signed

See I don’t think either of the specialist left backs are particularly good enough either. Binks starting at LB but either forming a back 3 when we attack or pivoting into CM to free up one of them could work potentially.

Generally, though, I do see us reaching a critical mass where we’re going to have to move a couple on at a loss if possible just to free up some cash flow. The squad cohesion is a mess.

I find it incredible that teams like Leeds, WBA and Sheffield United seem to jettison good quality players each year for various financial needs and manage to sign free transfers who don't seem to hamper their progress and performance. Why are we not that savvy?

Much, much better recruitment team than ours I’d imagine.

You would expect us to have 20mill+ to spend again in the summer. MVE, Wright, Sheaf will all leave at the minimum imo and you then have the likes of Eccles, Simms and Bassette that others may take a punt on. Gyokeres sell on too. Just hope we've learnt our lesson and stop signing players from no mark leagues.

Aren’t you advocating signing someone from the Polish league?

Wages. I’m sure their wage bills are still significantly higher than ours. And Leeds/SU offer realistic chances of playing in the Premier League.

Does it matter when we save millions on transfer fees? The end result over a typical contract length will be the same surely.

We're not going to throw a bunch of players in the bin that we signed for millions on long term deals.
Then operation premier league is fooked.

It doesn't matter who is managing this squad, it's just not good enough without another rebuild.

There's a number of players that need to be moved on. Such as:-

Collins
Wilson
Dasilva
Bidwell
Binks
Kitching
Allen
Torp
BTA
Tavares
Lats

That's a whole team of mediocre players who wouldn't get anywhere near a top 6 team!
And I'm being generous in not including EMC, Dovin and Raphael in the above, as they still need a chance to impress.

Your not getting rid of that number of very average players very quickly.
which means we are probably looking at another 2 or 3 seasons before we can realistically challenge for automatic promotion.
