depends what fee we would have owed sunderland after 50 games with the blair adams deal. i loved the guy but if that fee was out of our price range (so anything over £240) i dont think it was a bad move to let him go and bring in pugh. injuries happen not his fault he hasnt had a chance to show what he can do with us. if they would unleash haynes and let him play like phillips did tuesday i dont think anyone would moan about the blair adams deal
The transfer policy at the club is shocking and has been for a while now.. SW and SP are in this process up to their tits and should have no excuses about how poor they have been with selection's made. I understand they have a budget, i understand that may change, but the fact they seem to grab anything that comes along in that budget, while not having a plan on who fits into the team format is unforgivable.
They said we are looking for players from higher level clubs to bring in to add quality, then they said we want young hungry players from teams below. Now its seems they have gone and took either side, young, hungry but from both ends of the scale.. This policy is down to numbers and luck,, its not down to finding good players that will improve the squad, for me i would rather 3 good players than 7 with reputation who don't give a shit and are here because they are not wanted elsewhere..
This team has no balance in experience or level,, it has no depth in most units and the team formation has players playing out of a natural positions.. At the start of the season this should of been sorted no matter of the uncontrollable, they knew Wilson, Moussa, Murphy and Christie were off they made the decision to let Baker go.. So to be scrambling now and stating we are in a better position than a certain date, is bad management and show a lack of knowledge of availability in the market and how to build a team with decent quality of what you have lost.
I have no sympathy for SW i don't rate the man or have the sense that he is a decent bloke with his hands tied, i believe he is a part of the cancer in this club.. And i will say the same of SP keeping his head up his arse, picking up a wage, while playing along with it stating "we are outstanding" is going to bring more fans frustration on him... He is playing the card that SISU want perfectly, deluded comments keeping the press off them is what they are paying him for and will keep paying him for no matter of result,, misdirection is what this club has become and what it is all about.
With the power of hindsight, no club could survive with the loss of Clarke, Wilson, Moussa, Baker, Murphy and Christie. None were adequately replaced and massive potential goalscoring was gone forever.
Looking back, Leon Clarke leaving was the catalyst for a lot of the shite. We looked like we were on the verge of something good for once, then his head was turned, SP slated him on the radio, he left, and that was the end of that.
