Yeah but the new one could have a sliding pitch and retractable roof

Promotion would surely be our best chance of the owners selling up? For that reason (and for the sheer elation of going up)….

What is the point of anything in football if you don't aspire to progress??

Presumably the ideal scenario for some of you would be to lose the playoff final?

Buy wasps, and Coventry rugby club, combine the two, under the Coventry name, use the Butts for our U23 matches, and let the rugby club use the Ricoh for its bigger matches, everyones a winner (unless you support WASPS, but hey-ho, there are other London rugby clubs you ould always support)

I dont support any London Rugby Club. I support Coventry Rugby Club. Why would Coventry Rugby want to be merged with Wasps?

What he's proposing is Coventry RFC in the premiership playing at the Ricoh and wasps out of existence and you're not for it.

Did you get out of the bed on the wrong side and land headfirst on the floor or something?

Rugby Clubs playing in football stadiums is a crap experience. I can gaurantre Coventry Rugby fans would rather stay at the Butts.. Also that is no way to get into The Premiership and I doubt it would even be allowed?

A different opinion doesn't mean I got out of bed on the wrong side lol

Why dont we just invest in our own club. Pay off debts. Put money in to run the club. Then Facility upgrades and upkeeping. Then management and key player contracts. Then invest in improving the squad. And new stadium at Warwick Uni, 26,000 should be a good capacity with only 2,000 for away fans.

Whilst we obviously must aspire to getting in the PL I don't imagine it would be a particular enjoyable experience. Even with the parachute payment supported clubs the Championship is much more evenly balanced , more interesting and more fun.

Long term it would also produce its own problems. To even remotely compete we would have to start bringing in new players on around £50k a week, and to preserve harmony and team spirit we would have to uplift wages of our existing players to something approaching that too. Fine while we remain in the PL, but get relegated and the pressure is on to bounce back before the PL money runs out.

Of course we have to get promoted first

26k????

Maybe a few years ago. Any new stadium needs to be 30k minimum now, which brings its whole reason for existing into question.

If I had the means and the patience I’d love to hear Joys reasoning for a new ground and what the projected financials are. Saying we can’t afford to be knocking around a 32k ground when we’re pulling in 12k and paying £2m for it is one thing, saying that when we’re averaging over 20k, just broke our ST sales record, and are paying relative peanuts is something else.

Another 30k stadium would be in direct competition with an established competitor, would be hard to justify on planning, and would cause a lot more local impact than a 18-20k as discussed before.

If we got promoted I’d be tempted to treat it as another season in the Championship budget wise and tell players that this is their chance to prove themselves with big fat win bonuses. As hard as it would be to watch as a fan, I’d take us getting whalloped every week for a season if it means our financial worries are sorted.

We average crowds of around 20,000, so wouldnt it be better with a 26,000 seater rather than 30,000 so it doesnt look empty

But next season we might average 22 or 24k, and average means a few up at 27/28k. Having a ground we can add more fans to is a good thing. I don’t think many games felt empty last season at all TBH. We should be looking to push 25k average with a few seasons in the top ten or a playoff campaign. And then when we get promoted we should be looking to sell out pretty much every week.

Also, look at the CBS: in a 26k stadium the actual capacity would be closer to 20k than 25 by the time the safety group have got hold of it.

We don’t want him to play too well yet, otherwise Viera will have second thoughts about letting him go out on loan and will have him as backup to Mitchell.

If we go up, then debts get payed off, more money is in the club. Can start the building of a new stadium. Then it looks an attractive buy for a new owner and even if we are only there for 1 season we can then go back to watching us play some good football and winning games

Great in theory. And I agree it’s sensible and prudent.
So now you have 2or3% of us in agreement, we just have to convince the rest.
The majority of fans would be demanding we spend every penny we get,and more. By Christmas and after a few spankings, they would be screaming for Robins and Vivash to be sacked and for more money we don’t have to be spent.

Derby announce Max Bird as their new vice captain…. Says alot about his leadership skills but also suggests they don’t see him leaving anytime soon.

Completely disagree. As has been mooted here since SiSu came in, they're looking for their money back and getting compensation for their stakeholders. The Prem is the golden land, where money is as abundant as grass on their pitches. If we go up, they would have no reason to sell as all the debts and no doubt a profit for the stakeholders would be covered in one season. And any further stay would only increase the wealth.

If we go up, and I would only wish that when we could be sure of avoiding the Yo-Yo tag, don't expect to see Joy disappearing. But the Manager (hopefully MR stays) should have a few more quid to spend on loanees

Much else afoot @Skybluebeliever in terms of the other possible loan signing Robins mentioned (not the lwb which I think everyone assumes is Adaramola) which may become available next week? Had hoped it may be Anjorin but looks like he's headed back to Huddersfield.

I don’t think the O’hare deal is as far as some think , so I would think it will be just a couple of young loan signings
