I'm glad we never signed him, he did help us this season mind missing that sitter at the CBS in the Cardiff home game

How many of our chances this season would Adam Armstrong have converted?
On 58, we’re 6th highest scorers.

To be fair a lot of the time it seems the wrong player is on the end of our chances. Against Derby if it was Godden instead of Gyokeres on the end of those 1 on 1s we’d have won 3-1

I’d like to think we’re a decent proposition for young talent, you’re likely to get game time and we have a coaching team with a proven track record developing players. Twine we’ve probably missed the boat on (oh how I wish we’d gone for him in the summer), but who knows.

Given MK's asking price will be far above what we'd be able to pay, extremely unlikely.

As shown by recent windows Championship clubs are fishing in the EFL far more than they probably used to - Brexit being a big contributory factor of that.

He'll have a long list of suitors and we'll be sitting comfortably near the bottom of that list.

Well it does because the lower leagues of Europe are now all but closed off due to the points system in place. That's obviously going to cause a shift in transfer policy.

I'd imagine that's dependent on whether they go up or not this season, but yeah given his record this season it's of no surprise that's the level of club interested in him.

Not what I said is it. At least respond to the post coherently so you don't appear a total idiot.

I said there's a more prominent shift to Championship clubs recruiting talent from the EFL along with the NL as well. Many Championship clubs would've previously recruited from the lower European divisions and now can't. The only way they can source foreign talent is either by spending more on players from the top divisions in Europe or unearthing gems further afield - but most what have the scouting network in place to facilitate the latter.

The same issue I've been talking about has been discussed by the Athletic regarding Norwich's recruitment policy:

"Not all of Norwich’s recruitment has come from abroad, of course, but with the available pool diminishing, the obvious result will be an increase in demand for — and a rise in fees to sign — UK talent."

It wasn't bollocks

We spoke to Twine, Bright and Paterson

Was looking like Paterson was a done deal until he wanted more cash when Swansea popped up, and MR plumped for Bright over Twine

There's a reason he ended up at MK Dons in league 1 when hes clearly a lot more talented, MR went for Bright

I'd guess if we were in for him realistically he turned us down - perhaps due to us being unable to promise him sufficient playing time?

That's a complete guess but I find it very difficult to believe we lost out to MK Dons for any other reason.

A total idiot would try and use brexit horned into an argument about transfers. You had an outburst and nothing you have said there actually has any fact to it.

You have said the lower leagues of Europe are now all but closed off. So surely you mean that no English club has signed any foreign lower league players?

I'm reading what you posted, it just isn’t true and doesn't make any sense either.

Brexit means that that English clubs can no longer sign any player they wish from Europe due to the new points based system. Also no overseas U18s are allowed to be signed either by PL or EFL clubs.

Using Norwich as an example this means that players such as Buendia and Pukki would not have been able to be signed if at the time the new system was in place.

The points based system assesses a player's eligibility on a range of factors such as international experience and the league and the team he has been signed from etc.

As such clubs are going to have to significantly change their recruitment strategies and with bringing in players from Europe now becoming that much harder due to a huge proportion of said players not qualifying under the new points based system, they have to be a lot smarter with their recruitment.

With a significant market such as this being heavily closed off, experts within the industry believe that we're going to see more players coming from South America. But like I said, I don't think that's applicable for the majority of the Championship as most won't have the scouting network in place to tap into those markets for the obvious reasons - cost.

So the first port of call is going to be looking closer to home for the aforementioned reasons.

Believe what you want but I really don't think I'm the idiot in this scenario.

Is it not fairly common knowledge by now that Brexit makes it more difficult for clubs below the Premier League to bring in European players?

The Paterson part was incorrect. We got Bright, Paterson was out of a club for a while, he then went to Middlesboro on trial and then eventually went to Swansea but Bright was signed long before then

Paterson one still disappoints me, always has a blinder against us. Even Luke Steele was posting saying well done on joining CCFC

Twine would have been great but I never heard much about it until now.

Yes, I understand your explanation, but it is entirely based off theory, exaggeration, and incorrect statements. When managers start saying in numbers that they cannot sign a certain X,Y,Z player because of brexit rules then you might have a point. At the moment this is just a series of outbursts at brexit over transfers with no real substance to it. Don't get me wrong, there are many reasons to berate brexit, but this isn't it.

Boddy has just come out and said we flew over a player from a European league to watch a game with us in view of signing. It is still entirely possible. We still have scouts going to games there, and we are still looking to sign players from Europe. So it isn't as if the market is just suddenly closed off like you are saying.

Also, your examples are completely incorrect. Buendia is from Argentina which is not part of the EU, at least the last time I checked. Pukki also would have qualified on the points system, based on international appearances at the very least - which is part of how the points system works, and is actually quite generous.

I would do a bit more research before you start calling other people idiots.

Head of Recruitments of clubs both in the PL and Championship have already stated they're going to have to start switching their recruitment models and have indicated at how Brexit/the new regulations are going to have an effect.

I've never said the entire market is closed off, I've said the lower divisions in Europe are all but closed off. To respond to your point though, I'd wager we're likely signing a player from a European first division and one that has the appropriate number of points for a GBE - otherwise to state the obvious we couldn't/wouldn't be signing them.

I'm not wrong, you are yet again because you have zero understanding of the current regulation changes. Buendia was signed from Getafe and Pukki, although a surprising one, wouldn't qualify because Finland is outside the FIFA Top 50 rankings and therefore his caps contribute minimal points.

Hilariously ironic that you're telling me to do some research.

It doesn't matter. He was signed from Gefate, who at the time were in the Segunda division.

Signing players from the Spanish second tier is now nigh on impossible as players will struggle to earn the necessary points for a GBE

It is amazing the lengths some people will go to avoid admitting they made a mistake.

You went from rehashing a poorly researched article from The Athletic (which you also then misinterpreted) to just making things up. On domestic football alone for a player with an EU passport, yes, there are some more restrictions now, but they still do not mean the whole market (including lower league) are closed off like you have said. When you include international appearances (FIFA seeding is weighted, not absolute, check that too), or the origin of a players passport (one of which apply to both said players Pukki and Bunedia), then they are not confined to the same restraints as someone from Kickers Offenbach would be. Appearances also count for a lot, as it is a staggered system, with domestic and international pointing combined (yes I know you are just panicking and quick searching this too).

You made an angry outburst about brexit and now you are just making yourself look even sillier by trying to get acute, which would be a half-sensible save if your facts were remotely correct. Yes, we are probably looking at a player from a higher European league, but why wouldn't we be? We are an established Championship club now. Transfer policy will not massively be changing because we can't suddenly sign someone from the Polish fourth division.
