I don't think its anything to do with ability.
He played 29 games for League 1 Lincoln scoring 14 goals
He played 15 games for League 1 Portsmouth under the same manager and scored 1 goal before being dropped.
He has proven he is a good league 1 striker in the past, so it must be something else.

Never looks a happy chap at all. I remember Bobby Zamora saying he didn’t enjoy playing football and only played because he was good at it and the money was good. Walkers body language at times reads an unhappy chap.

He always comes across level headed in interviews, but on the pitch it’s clear he has no belief left in his ability. A real pity for both parties

If he finds the right club and gets some confidence back I could see him scoring a few in L1 and maybe getting picked up by a lower Championship club later. There’s a player in there, he just needs some love and some luck IMO.

I’ve always rated Walker, we just never played to his strengths like Mansfield and Lincoln did with wingers feeding him crosses all game.

I like Walker, there's definitely a player in there, as others have alluded too, he looks devoid of confidence and now, possibly a poor attitude if he thinks he's been hard done by, the kind of forward that will hit 8-10 goals a season given a run. Won't be a massive goal scorer in this division, don't really care if he stays or go, tbh, it maybe best all round if he finds another club that are better suit to his play style.

If Vik gets injured or suspended ? we are down to Godden who has nowhere near the power - he’s a fox in the box as above has said - we will need Walker - no one’s coming in now before the end of the season

I think Walker needs a solid run of games, would he set the world alight? Not sure but much better than him having 5 or 10 minutes here or there.

I've been a longtime critique of Walker and just don't think he's up to championship level. As for his misery at the awards ceremony. It must of been a painful experience for him and he showed utter professionalism just by being there. Felt for the lad

He’s reserve striker behind Vik and Matty Godden and would probably be behind Fabio Taveres too if he wasn’t injured, he will be let go and move on in the summer. Should throw up a decent wage to re-invest alongside Waghorns.

For all of Vik’s talent, having him in the team and the system effectively built around him has stifled both Godden and Walker. The two of them have such quiet games on the whole in a forward two because the whole team looks at feeding Vik for him to then take on opposition defences singlehandedly. Must be so frustrating for them personally, despite how effective it is overall for the team.

If Vik were to get injured then Robins would have to rethink the system employed which would probably (hopefully!) get a better return out of the two of them.

I think he’s been treated strangely but I’m not sure it’s unfair. I wouldn’t play him ahead of Godden but I’m amazed so many are blind to Godden’s faults. The other curious thing about Walker is that if he’d agreed to join us in 2019 we wouldn’t have signed Godden in the first place.

He’ll move on for sure but he doesn’t deserve some of the criticism he gets - people seriously having a go at him for not smiling? Compare to Bidwell, Sheaf or even Vik.

He just doesn't seem to find himself in shooting positions. Obviously he's been very much a bit part player so it's difficult to make an impact but if you look at the shots per 90 stats the only people with less shots per game are Doyle, Rose, BNC, Kelly and Burroughs.

There no point playing two up front with Vic.
If you play Vic you use an extra MF (if you have one)
When Vic played with Waghorn it wasn't so bad because Waghorn was content to play deeper. Maguire might suit that role but I doubt we'll ever find out.
If you want two up front you play Godden and Walker because that's the only option - unless Maguire ...etc.

Marcus Tudgay apparently didn't like football either according to one of his friends but said where else could he get paid as much...he was shite too

I'll always defend him against the 'lazy' accusations, because he's not, but I think his ability is unsuitable for the standard. Most teams don't play a fox-in-the-box at Championship level, and he doesn't seem to have the attributes to be a more rounded player. I can see him being a decent L1 player, or a good L2 player, but the Championship is beyond him imho

Any striker that thrives on first touch goals or balls fed into him (poacher) in advanced positions will struggle in our team. Vik works because he's a more complete skill set and you can pop it into him deep and he'll do the rest himself.

We don't play to Tyler's strengths and for that matter neither do we Godden's, aside for the Vik assist he's been relatively anonymous in my opinion.

I'd never replace Vik, but I'd back Walker to pop a one vs one in over our other forwards. Likewise if we were supplying a high rate of good quality crosses I'd fancy Walker getting on the end of them more.

Don't think he'll be here beyond the summer but he just doesn't fit Robins current style and everyone knows it (including Tyler).

I'm not sure why Godden is suddenly deemed not good enough. He suits the lone striker role with decent attacking midfielders behind him, this season he's played in a 2 with Vik which clearly doesn't work. Robins insists in persevering with this. We started the season that way (forced by O'Hare's injury). Godden got a couple of braces against Millwall and Hull but since then has struggled. He would be perfect to bring on in the last 10-20 mins of games, to give Vik a rest but it's not happened yet. Have no doubt he'll start them again on Saturday

He comes across as the type of person who needs a supportive atmosphere rather than tough love. As someone else said he has looked drained of confidence for a long time. Not a good combination when you’re trying to fight your way back into a team.

At the right club I think he’ll do ok and I hope it works out for him.
