Reading Venus's comments it would appear that he might be aiming criticism at Sisu for their short sighted policy of Little investment into building a team, thinking kids would do the job. This is the reason Mogga left appreciating that you can't build a team of kids and has beens. You can criticise Mogga's signings, but you can only afford to buy what Sisu allow him to spend. SISU OUT!

Yes, we all want sisu out and yes we all Want more investement but that doesn't take away from their recruitment failures. With the exception of Bolton and sheff united most clubs in this league don't have a pot to piss in.

I think we've been pretty hit and miss, Sterry and McCann are OK, Bigi has played well. Gadzhev poor, Agyei and Wright poor, Sordell OK considering. Not seen Thomas really, Reid average.

We've just not had the luck up front this season is going how I'd expect last year to have gone without Armstrong or Murphy. Whether that is good enough or the budget was spent wisely enough either season is a reasonable question.

Have said this all along . they keep cutting the cloth until you're left with rags . can't blame Mowbray , Venus , or the players . it's the owners . ex ''Star'' players are now saying it , mp's , famous City fans . what more do people need ?

People are talking about budget again like they know how much it is, how it is spent and released and at what time of the year. That twat Anderson came up with a great new price structure that punished both loyal ST holders and more casual supporters in one swoop and that has crucified the budget. Add to that the apparent lack of available budget when it actually mattered as we approached our first choices in the summer and you get what we have now. It's all short term shite whilst the tossers tap their fingers counting time down to the next court action. I feel very sorry for anyone who thinks anything else.

It's both. Cutting the budget means we're shopping for bargains. And shit recruitment means we're stuck with players who can't cut it.

There's plenty of blame to go around. No need to give it all to one party. Sisu and MV/TM are both to blame for where we are. Amongst others.

There were good players - for this league - out there. But they signed for other teams. I'd happily take a Chris Maguire or an Oztumer right now. But it's too late.

Not denying that a bigger budget would make it all much easier though. Any fool could make a decent team if they're allowed to chuck money at it.

I don't think it's just the budget, we have a competitive budget that should be around the top 10.

What I think held us back more is the the off field mess, makes it difficult to convince players to sign long contract with us and to attract players who are in there prime. I don't think we've ever been a less attractive club to join than we are at the moment.

Bang on Stu as always.

No excuses. We recruited very poorly over the summer and that is down to people like TM & MV not knowing this league enough. We all want SISU out but that doesn't take away the fact we had enough in the pot to be competitive at this level.

Time to get a League 1 manager in.

We got lucky last season with Armstrong, Murphy and Kent coupled with the ermergence of Stokes and Mowbray and Venus were applauded for it, rightly so imo, this season the signings simply collectively are not good enough, that's down to the recruiters not sisu

Personally, Sordell is the only one who has proved his worth and to a lesser extent, Turnbull, who was likely signed as a back up CB. McCann was always a stop gap.

Wright, Agyei, Wright, Reid and Thomas have all been wasted money.

Agreed and we can't afford that, can add the Bulgarian and even to a lesser extent Jodie Jones, he ain't ready yet for a relegation scrap and Venus has not found a system that fully suits him.
We just cannot afford to carry passengers. Venus is under real pressure to deliver the right players and the right quality to keep us in this division

Yep, don't get that. He knew exactly what he was getting into and must have know the exact situation's finances.

That's what worries me. It's not a manager saying maybe we will bring players in, in January, this is a board member of the board in control of the budget.

Strange comments from Venus. He was heavily involved in the recruitment and is now saying we have the wrong players. Did nobody consider Ricketts might not play every games?

Of more concern is the signing of players like Turnball, we've spent money we can't afford to waste on a player that doesn't appear to be much better than our own academy graduates. Add in some dodgy loan signings and we've got a lot weaker squad than the one that struggled massively in the second half of last season.

When the players being moved out were being questioned I said I was happy for players to go so long as better players were coming in, clearly that hasn't been the case.

And if Venus is in charge of recruitment and on the board shouldn't he have a vague idea of what is or isn't possible in January?

There is always an element of luck and chance when your signing frees and lower league players, but we have done ok with Sordell, got a squad player in Turnbull and wasted the rest of the money. Even the loans haven't come off this season.

We need someone who knows League One and what it takes to compete. You don't need the highest budget (see Sheff Utd) you need players who can can compete.

I'd say there's always an element of luck and chance with every signing, not just frees and lower league players. If you go back to our championship days we paid good money for players from the championship and PL and they ended being poor (I.e. kyle, McKenzie, Eastwood, even Lee Hughes to an extent).

This had been the big issue with our last 2 managers (SP and TM), neither knew league one well enough or the largest recruitment pool for this league (leagues one, two and conference). We need some who knows league one and what's required.

Yep, plenty of room for wages for decent players, they just needed to use it wisely. I'm sure Scunthorpe aren't paying Morris big wages, he struggled to get a game at Bradford last season and went there on a free. I'm sure he'd have been nowhere near mowbrays recruitment list. Not saying he'd have been as good here as he has at Scunthorpe but it shows that there are gems out their if you know what you want and how they will fit in to your system. Mowbray didn't even know what system he was going to use - signed a winger then played wing backs, for example. Signed 5-6 strikers when hr plays 1 up front.

Experienced like what? Tudgay and Reid?

We have been through this loads of times, Mowbray's version of experienced players were championship players which is why they are costly.

Trying to say we couldn't get an experience L1 head in to kick players about and control games is silly, most teams have one and they have smaller budgets than us.

I don't believe that TM just said I need and striker and then Venus would find one. Mowbray would have been heavily involved in identifying the players, Venus would have been doing the negotiations. Even Kieren Crowley said on the last nii lamptey show podcast last season that mowbray had the list of targets for each position written on his whiteboard in his office.
