Waggot's role in the recruitment strategy of players over the last few seasons has proved him unfit for purpose.

The fiasco of signing that idiot from Brentford shows him to be utterly clueless as has his shambolic strategy regarding goalkeepers.

He went for "names" like tudgay Jackson etc on God knows what wages which also flopped

In truth when he has dunderheads like Pressley and thorn it doesn't matter.

Now we have a real manager we need to keep. Will he stay when the strategy for recruitment is this hopeless clown?

I hope fisher has some influence still and fires this clueless chancer as we need Mowbray big time.

Well Grendel singing from my hymn sheet. We shouldn't let up on this inept idiot playing games with OUR football club and that's what he is doing without challenge. I have been saying for months he is thrusting players on our managers, actions that I believe cost us Mark Robins.. As you say weak managers like Pressley and Thorn stood for it Tony Mowbray certainly won't which I believe is the reason he has only committed himself for 3 months.

Do you know what Mr Waggot's role is?

I don't know if the manager identifies who he wants specifically and Waggot goes and tries to get them.

Or does the manager says we need a left back and Waggot comes back with options and the manager picks his man.

Or as I think you must be suggesting Waggot identifies what we need, then who we need, then signs them. The manager just effectively coaches and picks the team?

If it's the latter then you have a point, however any of the other two, then who knows he maybe doing a good job and managed to get the players the manager wanted and the manager screwed up.

Don't care what you say Nick I have been proved correct re. Steve Waggott. He has to go even before Tim Fisher and someone come in who can run a football club, sisu/Sepalla may act differently given the right guidance.

Sorry Rupert I can think of many reason why the club and TM agreed on 3 months. Most reflect badly on the club and show TM to be a smart man. I am not sure the way players are signed would be the main one. Unless you have an inside track?

Of course I suppose it could form part of a negotiation once TM has kept us up and he holds the ace

I noticed you left your Messiah Robins out of the equation. Who was signing the players during his reign.

On that note I am a bit confused by Robins I don't understand how he left us and failed at Huddersfield and is now doing average at Scunthorpe after the initial bump that occurs when he first takes over.
I thought that having taken over the 'worst squad in history and turning it into promotion chasers' he would do the same at Huddersfield and Scunthorpe?

There does seem a certain trend of a scattergun approach to signing players, that crosses managers.

Even under Robins, tbh.

Now maybe it's all the managers, but the huge turnover ofshort term deals flies in the face of the stated aim of long term building.

Well, yes I agree with that. This appears to be policy driven by expediency however. We've had two summers disrupted through account-filing malarkey and then the horrific realisation that the side we built this last summer wasn't up to much. The short-term contract issue I would imagine is policy as SISU doesn't know how long it will take to rip off their mark.

What is Waggott's experience in Football, he's not an ex-player is he or a qualified coach? No idea. I've always wondered what attributes him to be able to go out and recruit players.

Only Waggot could have signed the guy on loan from Brentford

I imagine Waggott is provided with a list of players by the manager and he then takes on the negotiation side of things.

Like Madine, he was adamant at the yeovil game when talking with fans outside that he wanted him here. In the same conversation he was asked about Mark Marshall. He said 'Steven thought he was too inconsistent' (not a quote but it was along those lines). If he rated him himself and was the one to choose who comes in / goes out, why wouldn't he have not just signed Marshall up anyway despite what Pressley thought?

When you look at the whole picture since his arrival you do have to wonder if he's been playing FM the whole time.

He's certainly one of the common denominators in gathering of pace of our downfall. Problem is him and Mr Fisher seem to come as a double act meaning to get rid of one you need to get rid of the other at the same time so it's probably not going to happen anytime soon.

But even then we're walking straight into the next problem. Each one of SISU's boards has been more incompetent than the one who went before them.

Robbins failure at Huddersfield to contextualise this was a win ratio of 33% - a rate certain other managers would give their right arm for.

At Scunthorpe if you average the points over a season they would be top 10 which given where they started I would suggest is very impressive.

He did take over from the worst manager in history (no stats can debate that one) and overhauled the whole squad. If he had stayed we would have prospered.

Robins was his own man and would not like assistance in his job - same as Mowbray. Thorn - if waggot had asked to pour a bucket of excrement over his head - would have just nodded acceptance as long as the pay cheque kept coming.

Despite being far more articulate Pressley it seems wasn't a great deal better.

Robins seems to be regarded as JH mk11. He's got a track record of getting out when the pressure's on. Doubt he'll be at Scunny long.

1, We don't know who has chosen the players.

2, Shall we see the players play for a decent manager before we call them a flop. How can so many players as you say flop and it not be anything to do with SP?

3, You hope that Fisher has influence? From what we have seen from Fisher he is as clueless as anyone else.

I very much doubt he has said that. It would be highly unprofessional and hardly conducive to getting the best out of the side as he tries to avoid relegation.
