McNulty, obviously.
Maddison but only offering pills for the bit after we sold him but came back on loan?An ex loanee offered my mate a pill in the Colly once when we were about 16/17. Premiership player now
Snus..... quite common in football I think.
But the half life of nicotine is only 2 hours. So long as they're not smashing it all the time the effects should be minimal. There hasn't been a huge number of trials done on the effect of snus on athletes but virtually all sports scientists and medical professionals think it's detrimental
Here's an excerpt from one study
I know one or two goalkeepers who were taking it
Unsurprisingly they were prone to loss of concentration
What does nicotine do to the body?
The most active substance in snus is undoubtedly nicotine, and in the absence of specific research on Swedish snus, we have to look to the much more comprehensive research available for nicotine in general here.
The effect of nicotine on the body is primarily exerted on the autonomous nervous system. The body's signalling system is thus affected, leading to reduced blood flow to the muscles, reduced removal of waste products from the muscles and reduced energy supply. The cross-sectional surface of the muscle decreases in size, which is thought to reduce strength during heavy lifting. You start feeling cold more easily, which can be a disadvantage when doing certain sports in a northern part of the world.
The nicotine also leads to impaired nerve communication in the muscles, i.e. in the signalling between nerve ends and muscle fibres, which can worsen coordination and the ability to activate the right amount of strength in the muscle when needed.
The problem is some of them are smashing it LQBut the half life of nicotine is only 2 hours. So long as they're not smashing it all the time the effects should be minimal.
Fair enough. I can't see why clubs don't deal with it then. Even if it isn't illegal you can tell them not to do it, you wouldn't have a sub downing a pint at half time. The problem is some of them are smashing it LQ
There is footage in the Amazon series of Man City players taking it while on the bench during a game
And the guys with the biggest problem often take one at half time
it's very addictive
It's a problem that will eventually need to be addressed by the game in generalFair enough. I can't see why clubs don't deal with it then. Even if it isn't illegal you can tell them not to do it, you wouldn't have a sub downing a pint at half time.
I'm getting on, but I would have no issues taking a pill that could make me a Premiership player now like your mate.An ex loanee offered my mate a pill in the Colly once when we were about 16/17. Premiership player now
