If Robins insists on getting rid of Mr Blue Sky then what should replace it.

NO to Chelsea dagger
NO to generic dated trance
NO to the f@@@ing black eyed peas

and thank god we don't play that awful music that Wigan play after every goal. cannot believe they still do that - it would drive me away as a fan without a doubt.

NO goal music necessary.

so what sould we have. some people think the enemy but for me we have to go with the specials. My current choice is Ghost Town because its a tune, it's a bit tense before a match, it's ironic seeing as the Ricoh is pretty much a ghost stadium and it'sCoventry through and through. What do ya think Mark (and everyone)?

someone run a poll I don't know how you do them...

It's not ironic when its the truth. No, irony would be a sell out and playing ghost town.

My song to get everybody in the mood and pumped up would be The Smiths- 'I know its over'

I would add a poll to this thread, but you haven't suggested what songs should be used.

Should hold a competition for local musicians to write a song. We don't want to use something that doesn't really fit like Chelsea Dagger.

My entry to the "write your own competition"

Another day and hope is here..
together we march without any fear,
No defeat, no pain or hurt,
Fight for the right to wear the shirt
a glorious day whatever the weather
the journey better when we march together,
the road is long, but we'll have our day
play with passion and spirit - the sky blue way !

(To the tune of Sesame Street)

I'm amazed just how much people really care about this - obviously the music is the reason we're losing and nothing to do with, the players lack of quality, direction, leadership and effort coupled with no atmosphere and an unforgiving crowd. Yep the music, that will be it.

I'm not sure it makes much difference, but if he is set on changing it we should do it the right way and get something that, over time, will mean something to the fans.

The players shouldn't need pumping - that's what the manager and captain should be doing, not relying on some pointless tune.

Everton for example still come out to Z cars still, because for one reason only that it's their tradition. The only thing that it should ever be is something that people from outside identify with the club and in our case that can only be the Sky Blue Song. Many walk ons are club associations rather than anthenic and has absolutely zero bearing on the performance of the team.

Who cares what music they play on entrance, long as they win a game it's about what they do on the pitch not anything else.

The ground would be even more embarrassing than it already is if there was no goal music. It would be even quieter.

Perhaps we should do it for away goals too. I think the Birdie song or Agadoo would be appropriate.

It can have a bearing on pumping the fans up though. Quite frankly the atmosphere is flat and apart from the one corner no-one gets behind the team.

Totally agree but do you really think that this will change any of that, whatever the tune?

Tbh the start of games normally there is a bit more atmosphere and then it quietens down after just a couple o minutes. Many of our fans (those that still come) don't take their seats until close to kick off running up from, the bar.

I remember an away fixture at Ipswich a couple of seasons back. Many anthenic tunes played for about 30 minutes approaching kick-off. It was pretty electric with them and us and I Was quite excited, thinking this could be a great afternoon. Then as soon as the music died down and the game started it was like a library.

I think the only way to build atmosphere via music is DURING the game and that's so american that I think many traditionalists would moan about that too.

As a fan of American Sports I wouldn't mind it too much. If it works it is a good thing. The difference with American sports is that they are more stop start and music tends to be in the breaks in the game.

To be honest, the real answer is better football & better results attracting more fans which will increase the noise levels.

I would always have said no music just before as the fans should be the ones creating the noise.
But at the Ricoh, especially recently the atmosphere... Well there isn't any!
