I assume Walsh is allowed to play in Bristol City's remaining games? I imagine if so they'll see how he fits then and will then decide what to do in the summer afterwards. Would be quite surprised if we managed to get him back unless the player is overly keen on the move.
hi hadjiSo what’s the breakdown of competition in the midfield spots? What formation do you play? How many senior players are ahead in the pecking order? Also what are your hopes for making the playoffs?
He's not allowed to play for us as you hold his seasons' registration.I assume Walsh is allowed to play in Bristol City's remaining games? I don't want the same players as them.
What do you think it would cost to tempt you? I heard rumours that we tentatively enquired at £1.2m were we to be promoted but that was a while ago. He's not allowed to play for us as you hold his seasons' registration.
I think he may well end up with you as we also have Sammy Smozdics and Welsh international Joe Morrell heading back to BS3 plus the players mentioned by my esteemed fellow city supporter. It will cost you though.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see Jamie Paterson, a Coventry lad and a CCFC supporter, heading your way but once again, it would cost you. Decent player all that said.
That was an enjoyable season I must admit. Storming L1 and winning the JPT, again, was enjoyable. finishing with a 0-6 at Bradford and an 8-2 v Walsall on the final day was lovely. On Bristol City, their 14/15 team was the best I’ve ever seen at this level, utterly dominant. Aden Flint ended up with 15 goals
I think it would take a fair bit more than that will all possible respect LG. Our CEO, Mark Ashton, is a tough negotiator. What do you think it would cost to tempt you? I heard rumours that we tentatively enquired at £1.2m were we to be promoted but that was a while ago.
What? Bristol City have been a good Championship team for many years now. If you think we’re in the market for the same players as them then you’re going to end up very disappointed
No way would I pay anything like £1.2 million, like most I like Walshy but there are going to be a lot of players from the championship and Premiership looking for clubs. If we want him and if he wants us we’ll get him imo. We had this last year with Bright, will he, won’t he, should we shouldn’t we, and apparently bid £600k looks now we had a lucky escape.

Daniel Bentley is class - I’d deffo agree that he was one of the best if not the best outside the Prem. I remember him having a stormer for Southend against us a few years back.hi hadji
im quite confident we can make the play offs as the break has done us a favour with some injuries we had.on paper I think we have a great side but we are missing a midfield general we are very fluffy and to nice.
side is
Bentley in goals for me one of the best outside the prem
jack hunt or perriro from Benfica and DaSilva from chelski and tommy rowe wingbacks
middle kalas asley williams and plays naggy in front sometimes baker
middle messengo from monoco going to be a star, callum owdowda bloody rubbish, andy viemenn and if were lucky kasey palmer or corey smith
upfront big bad benik afobe after everything this man has been through it is great to see him back
nacki wells and farmara ellieson Jamie Patterson henrickson marley Watkins take your pick
on are forum we play pick the side for sat as it always changes
to be honest after are cup run when we beat manu and had a good go at man city lee seems to have gone backwards in the style of football we play.we are a better side away than at home hence lj is like marmite to the fans even though we are doing well a lot of fans would like him gone.the funny thing is he got the job over yes you guessed it mark robins.
If it was normal times I’d agree but it’s far from normal there will be lots of good players released and lots of top championship clubs so called in a financial mess, Bristol City will play their “we want Walsh card” to get the best fee they can and I understand that, Just think £1.2 million for us and that’s if we’ve got it is a lot for a player we can get for nothing in a years time or even on loan.1.2 million for 22 year old who’s just been the best midfielder in league one would be great value, no doubt about it.

That’s what I thought your answer would be and it means it’s a none starter from the get go. We’re not playing in the same financial league as you so if it is silly money we’ll just move on. We have a fantastic scouting and recruitment department that can pick a quality player out of nowhere so that’s what we’ll do and you could end up with an unhappy player going through the motions of the final year of his contract. We tend to get our business done early and have already been linked with a loan move and buying a Dutch lad. That was an enjoyable season I must admit. Flinty did indeed get 15 and finished with a hat trick, including a rabona.
I think it would take a fair bit more than that will all possible respect LG. Our CEO, Mark Ashton, is a tough negotiator.
So just to be clear. You want to buy a player we had on loan in league 1 who did not feature for bristol City in the championship? Are we not aiming for at least what Bristol City can achive? No disrepect to Walsh I think he deserves his chance but I would like to think we are looking around at players already proven in the championship (or above) that may be key to our fortunes.
The reality is that our most talented players are O Hare and Walsh, our back 6 were solid and functional and yes Dabo and McCallum (also a loan player) offered something going forward but undoubtedly O Hare and Walsh made the real difference going forward. Next season we will be competing to stay in the Championship and although it is unlikely we sign both they would help us achieve that goal. That rules out O Hare as well then.
I would think that's probably about right cc84. We save face by making a bit of profit etc etc.I think your looking at £1.5 - £2m for Liam Walsh

True, can't deny that. They also have a wealthy benefactor which is the primary reason for their success.

Hopefully something can be worked out that suits all three parties. As our CEO said today though we've been lining up signings for 6 months already and want to pull the trigger soon. If Johnson wants to finish the season then reassess the squad and have a look at Walsh we'll probably have bought in his replacement. Robins likes to have his squad together at the start of pre-season with only a couple of late additions and the one advantage we have going into next season is our extended break.I would think that's probably about right cc84. We save face by making a bit of profit etc etc.
FWIW, I also agree with the poster that said fees will change this summer due to the lockdown.
As a Championship club, sadly, these are the minimum fees you'll be expected to pay. Massively inflated I appreciate but true none the less.
To the poster asking how much we got Bentley for, I believe it was £2.2M or there abouts.
Fair comment LG and if you go that way, I wish you every possible success. It would actually be quite refreshing to see a team prosper at this level without spending £Millions TBH.
It's a fantastic place to watch football, I have a couple of friends that have season tickets in the Dolman and the facilities are great. Also been to see the Bears with work and watched the Columbia game at the World Cup on the big screen outside.True, can't deny that.
he has paid for the redevelopment of the stadium (I hope you like it) and has now bought all the land surrounding the stadium and is building all sorts of stuff on it.
We know we're extremely lucky to have him and his son at our club, no denying that.
I don't disagree cc84 but, will he tell BCFC he wants to leave? I dunno, remains to be seen I guess but mark Ashton will do what's best for BCFC, have no doubt about that. I can't see us trading him for less than the figures being mentioned, if at all. By Championship standards, it's actually quite a low fee.If the player wants to leave & only has a year left it might be smart business for them to pick up a fee for him and sell him else he’s gonna walk for nothing in 12 months
It’s almost exactly the same as it was last season with Bright, if I was Walsh I’d take note of that, footballers can be up in the lights one day then out of the picture altogether, still not sure what Bristol City can do if he doesn’t sign a new contract, if he doesn’t his value will drop significantly. If I was him I’d also compare the two managers !!
There’s also talk of the transfer window being extended until the end of October so plenty of time to have a look how this all pans out.
What fee is it you are talking about? In the FA cup game v Birmingham Walsh was the best player on the park by some margin. If we had the money I'd happily see up to 2 million spent on him.I don't disagree cc84 but, will he tell BCFC he wants to leave? Agent John HarriottHas there been any reputable sources saying he's keen on the move or is it just an anonymous Twitter account?
Yeah, I wish that was us tbh pal.True, can't deny that.
