Does to us, but then like you say, we don't have that intense rivalry.on talksport, Everton fans hoping their team gets battered just to scupper Liverpool’s title challenge! Whilst we don’t have the rivalry to take a view, I just cannot see a position where I would ever want our team to lose?
Seems bizarre doesn’t it?
Equally I think they play them so surely that would be your opportunity to do ‘damage’ to their title hopes but probably realise they have little chance of winning that game!Does to us, but then like you say, we don't have that intense rivalry.
Ha ha good point England comes to mind on that latter point!I’d quite happily lose a meaningless end of season match if it meant Villa being relegated or stopping them being promoted.
Apart from that I guess if you were in a competition with a group stage and finishing 2nd offered an easier route forward you might be tempted. Would probably just end up getting knocked straight out by the ‘easy’ team though!

Discussed it earlier above but I think one is tactical and the other is just blind hatred. Maybe not difference to some of our fans taking great pleasure in the team being poor to get one over on SISU too!is there any difference between this and all the people wanting England to lose against belguim in the world cup
Yes. I would never be content with losing just to scupper a rival. The only thing it might do is give an upside to a defeat but that's it.

Even then, as I posted at the time, I thought the attitude that it's ok to lose to get an 'easier' game in the next round is ridiculous. So it proved anyway.
To be fair when people ask me "Do you support a football team" I always say "No, I support Coventry City".Did this happen in time gone by or is it a modern Premier League-era construct? Like how I see grown men arguing on Facebook about how “you only beat *insert biggest rival* and you’re celebrating like you’ve won the league”. I don’t get it. It’s like a competition of who’s the best fan of the best club. People have said before that I don’t know anything about football because I support Cov, what does that even mean?
It's my stock answer too, with the slight variance 'Do you like football?' 'No, I support Coventry City'.To be fair when people ask me "Do you support a football team" I always say "No, I support Coventry City".
We have LOADS of idiot fans on this forum that dont want us to win. Anyone who hopes never to get promoted to premier league is saying they would like us to lose enough games to avoid iton talksport, Everton fans hoping their team gets battered just to scupper Liverpool’s title challenge!
