Really tough choice. I’d just about go for Borrows because he was a total legend and a beacon of quality when we didn’t always have much. We had him throughout his prime and into a long Indian summer. Unfortunately having contemporaries like Stevens, Parker and Dixon didn’t help him internationally.

Nilsson was absolutely fucking mint tho.

Different times called for different players Mick Coop, Borrows, Nielson, MVE ?
Roland was total class, Borrows an excellent loyal servant as was Coop but MVE has the ability in time and at a time now footballers are supreme athletes to be the best 🤷‍♂️

For me, yes.

There are others worthy of a mention such as Borrows, Thomas and Coop, but I think Nilsson was just a class above. Made the game look easy.

Danny Thomas was international class - I know I would say that but it's true. There was a buzz in the crowd when he received the ball - and he was our right back in the early 80s. I can only imagine how good he would be in the modern game - pace, technical skills he had it all. Very unfortunate with injury but a total legend.

One of the very best players I've seen play for the club.

I know Sheffield Wednesday were very good when he played for them, but it's odd that he didn't play for one or more of Europe's top sides.

Borrows would undoubtedly have won England caps if he had played for a more fashionable club. Convinced of that. Still wasn't quite as good as Nilsson, though.

I have to go with Brian Borrows. That’s not to run Nilsson down but Borrows could do it all, he oozed class & could score great goals sometimes too. With a touch more pace, had he been at a “bigger” club, and dare I say it had he have had more ruthless ambition, I think he’d have had a shot at playing for England.

I remember him being well into his 30s v Forest in ‘95 & Collymore was scoring for fun & was full of hype, Borrows played at centre half and never gave Collymore a sniff, he was just class.

Only player I ever saw get the better of him was, randomly enough, Ian Ormondroyd at Villa when they beat us 4-1 in 1990.

He’s my favourite ever City player, could go on for ages about him- but for me he beats Nilsson, also for longevity of course. Let Wednesday have Nilsson, we can have Bugsy 💪

Didn’t he become a physiotherapist in Cov after he had to retire?

I didn’t see Thomas play but did meet him after a game in a restaurant once and he was very nice.

Nillson was better than Borrows (who was one of the worst crossers of ball that I have ever seen).

David Phillips would have been a brilliant modern type full back.
