  • The rumoured fee is lower than it was really, and we're laughing to the bank;
  • We're desperate for cash to pay the wages, so had to sell now come what may, and no other bugger wanted him;
  • Mowbray doesn't rate him, so we cashed in quick before others realised he wasn't that great after all.

I'd put my money (all £2million of it) on the middle one...

Tend to agree. He was a saleable asset and with all the new recruits (six by my count) , we needed the money for wages.

In other words, without a sale we wouldn't have had a pot to piss in.

Still on the plus side, bet we wish we'd forced Liverpool to pay up front for Thomas rather than taking him on loan, so maybe it'll be another great white hope...
