Just my opinion, but I dont think we need a target man. Looking at the players we have signed and what we have I think Thorn wants us to play our way out of this league making space and using the channels. Playing with a 'target man' normally results in us lumping the ball up front and missing our midfield players. We the fans then moan about our style of play. When you have worked hard for the ball why give it away cheeply? You don't have to be 6'5 to be stong on the ball. When playing against tall CB's sometimes that half yard can still win the header, or being strong and making the CB work can often result in good second ball chances. Why have footballing midfielders just to lob it long over thier heads? More and more teams play without 'target men' with more focus on movemant on and of the ball. I think this is due to formations moving on from 442 where old style wingers would whip crosses in to be won in the air. Now more teams keep the ball on the deck making space and trying to play between lines. It says something when arguably England's best 'target man' is not wanted by his new manager who managed to get his old team playing great football and keeping them in the Premier league.

I don't think a target man is necessarily what Thorn is after, and I quite agree that we may not need it. However what we don't have is forward with the ability to hold the ball up. I would say it was more strength and composure we are after than height and aerial ability.
I would only want a target man for the last 25 mins if are passing game is not getting us where we want. Having a plan b. But definately prefer the above as plan A. Real shame about Platt as he would have been perfect for 25 mins
I'd say that we could do with a proper target man this year, purely for 'Plan B'. i'd much rather us focus on us getting a pacy finisher first though!
.....also, off topic, but does anyone know how to change my screen-name on here? *facepalm*

You don't want to go there you lose all your likes from you previous incarnation. Someone new to this forum and looking and my likes to posting ratio would conclude I was someone who just spouts rubbish all day long.
