We would not have played Godden if there was any real interest.Moore, Godden (I think if a bid came in and we had a younger replacement lined up we’d sell) and possibly Hamer.
Yes, we saw the interview.Robins “Losing Viktor is a blow, there’s no doubt about that, but getting someone like Ellis in the building is a real coup because he has some real ability and qualities that we can work with. He’s 22 years of age and there’s loads there. He’s been out and experienced the Championship and scored some goals there - I think he scored seven in 14 at Sunderland and scored at Chelsea for Everton, so to get him is a real coup and a statement for us.
“I think the recruitment so far has been good but we’re still looking for another ten, so things will start to drop. People should be excited. The players are on the list and moving closer but it’s just difficult to get things over the line. There’s a load of work going on and Dean Austin is working his socks off.
“Doug (King) is involved in this as well and all working around the clock to make things happen and if we can get the ones over the line that I have given the thumbs up to then it makes for an exciting squad.”
I think 10 is realistic, we lost 22 players if you count the loans and all the released players who were never near the first team squad, and we've only brought in 5 so far,I think 10 was just a number off the top of his head. Can’t see another 10 first team players coming in unless he knows we’re about to lose Hamer and possibly others.
It is exciting. He confirmed for me that the window hasn't been going quite as planned but that he's still hopeful of 10 players (by the end of the window maybe?) Moore and Gus to go I expect, 4 or 5 loans. I still doubt that we'll register 25 players, maybe not even 20 plus keepers. It sounds like a huge investment and it is but it's actually the minimum that we need. With 9 subs that's nearly two teams named for every match. The Transfer Window…

Now that’s exciting
I thought he was left sided so stand to be corrected, he’s still a good player though.I like Cresswell but he played right side against us.
Just checked he is right footed.I thought he was left sided so stand to be corrected, he’s still a good player though.
There’s another 6 weeks to go.We would not have played Godden if there was any real interest.
Yes, he did sort of imply that between the lines. He'll be allowed some grace until Jan as long as we don't get a clutch of injuries.I'm expecting a new interview soon. I think MR got a little flippant with the comments last night.
"Yes, I did say 10. But I meant we really need 10, but getting them is a different matter. Let's aim for 10 and if we get 5 or 6 then we'll deal with it."
Just can't see it.
But we appear to be building for the next 2-3 years.Just to put a downer on it, that will take at least until November for the team to gel
But we appear to be building for the next 2-3 years.
Was my exact first thought aswellPromising words but this makes me feel Hamer will be sold to fund this
To be fair, I hadn't.Yes, we saw the interview.
For their families to sit on match daysWe're keeping blocks 10-13 closed just so we have somewhere to interview all the new signings
your maths falls down, as you are talking about kids being released, but they are just replaced by next years kids - so they are irrelevant, and it is just a bonus if any of them progress to the 1st team squadI think 10 is realistic, we lost 22 players if you count the loans and all the released players who were never near the first team squad, and we've only brought in 5 so far,
so another 10 (which will no doubt include some loans) will still see us with fewer players on our books, but with (hopefully) far better quality.
There's also the possibility that we could still lose players, with Moore, Hamer, and Bidwell not guaranteed to be here for the start of the season.
Agree with this. The wheels are in motion on probably about 8, as we know these deals take time and are reliant upon other deals going through. We need quality not just quantity and I am certain that is MR view
I suggest 4 "quality" for the first team on 3/4 year contracts and 3 quality loans plus a couple for the 2nd XI
I even more convinced the missing ITK characters were stung with duff info from within the club to weed them out.
Some big calls turning out to be quite the opposite.
So that would be 10-11 signed …. Still way ahead of the sceptics suggestionsI'm expecting a new interview soon. I think MR got a little flippant with the comments last night.

I think you will find a lot of players will feature in pre season matches across lots of clubs that are sold later in the window. I wouldn’t read anything in to it at all. If we had signed 2 more strikers in addition to Simms I might agree but last night was a scratch team ….We would not have played Godden if there was any real interest.
We probably wont sign the full ten
Don’t know why we’re second guessing what robins saidIf we do, they wont all be first team.
I would guess, 7 more for first team, (of which 3 will be loans) and 3 for the U21's
Don’t know why we’re second guessing what robins said
Hopefully they want to cash in on him now LOLA left sided CB has to be top priority now.
The balance Doyle gave us last season was a monumental improvement & will be even more important if, as we suspect, we'll become more possession based again.
I like Kitching but think that might be a difficult deal to do. Would be interested to see what type of fee Eiran Cashin would be available for, he only has a year left on his deal at Derby.
The context he gave to it suggested it might be really in recognition of how competitive the league will be next season, so not necessarily the case that players will leave. Not sure what the optimal squad size is mind you.
