Anybody still enjoy reading a book, or is it all online now ? I bought 3 yesterday. Crap Teams - a funny book on rubbish teams over the years. Yes we're in it. Another one : 1001 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die. And one called : Running With The Firm - True story about an undercover copper who infiltrates Millwall's top hooligans. A varied selection.

Just finished Romesh Ranganathan (sp) which I got for my birthday in October which is, to say the least, bang average!

Had Geoff Thompson’s ‘The Elephant and the Twig’ for over a year now and not properly started it so that is next on the list!

I keep reading books about unusual travel, reading one currently about somebody travelling from the UK to Singapore by train via the Trans-Mongolian railway by somebody called Matthew Woodward. I downloaded it for free on Kindle Unlimited.

Read that on holiday a couple of years ago I found it enjoyable

Last decent book I read was Danny Bakers going to sea in a sieve
The Running With The Firm is okay. Started on it last night, can't believe how he got away with it though. Only read a few chapters so maybe he gets rumbled.

I read part of a book every night - i read very fast and i have rapidly filling Kindle as i finish books - i get very disappointed when i catch up with an author and waiting for a new book to come - current good reads for my crime drama favourite is Stuart MacBride - very funny and real but i also like Clive Cussler ! not so keen on bios

The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Gary Neville's bio - Red.

What do you think of the tattooist? Loved the gruesome picture of a concentration camp but not a big fan of love stories (book or film) - very good read though

I read all sorts, the last 3 being the above book, Name of the Wind (fantasy book, hotly tipped to be the next Lord of the rings/Game of thrones) and The time traveller's guide to medieval England - not exactly a story but tells you what to wear/say/eat/etc should you happen to be teleported back in time - a really great read and much better than I describe it

I've read a few of those hooligan books but can't stay the course as they're usually utter pish.

just bought the salt path. About a woman and her husband who have a shit run of luck end up homeless and decide to walk the 600 plus mile costal path from Somerset to Dorset, (true story). Meant to be decent.
Going to start it this weekend.

Enjoying it so far, only 80-90 pages in though. Plantation by Chris Kuzneski is a good read, I like Kuzneski's writing style and the Payne & Jones books he's done are very easy reads. Just crime / thriller stuff.

I've read a book about somebody walking that path, love to give it a go myself as it goes

Best book I read in 2018 was John boyne’s ‘the hearts invisible furies’.
Usually have two books on the go...one of the classics and a thriller/crime but also whatever recommended by friends (that’s where I picked up the John boyne). Currently about to start ‘crime and punishment’ by Dostoyevsky and am part way through one of Karen maitland’s medieval noir thrillers.

I think reading of someone doing it previously was what inspired this couple, it may be they red the book you read.
As much as we all love jetting off to foreign climes when we can it's worth remembering there is some truly beautiful scenery on our door steps.

Funny how people’s choices are different.

I read at least 1 a week. The house is swimming in books.

I never read any non fiction though and have only I think read a couple of biographies in my life.

It’s all easy to read crime / espionage thrillers and some horror novels

Im the opposite, only really like non fiction.

Read one a while back about a woman who was groomed and taken abroad to be a sex slave. Was an eye opener! Can't remember her name but basically met a bloke up north (Leeds I think), thought he was her boyfriend. Went abroad and forced into sex work.

Do like Spy type stories and crime but like true stories!

Read pretty much all of Welsh’s stuff and this was pretty middle of the road.

Much prefer his older stuff - Porno, Glue, Filth, Maribou Stork Nightmares etc.
Yeah the recent stuff has been poor and it feels like he's milking the Glue / Transpotting characters. Glue and Marabou are the best I think.

Yeah, thought that was the worst of the lot.....

Begbie in America being a distinguished artist. Just couldn’t buy into it.
I tried the first chapter or so but couldn’t read anymore. There’s talk of it being made into a stand alone begbie film but can’t see it happening

love all those books. Was stood next to him at the bar at a festival a couple of years ago watching a DJ.
I'm not one who's bothered about talking to famous people but would love to have spoke to him but bottled it!

Because of work I am in the car so subscribe to audible. Gives me a chance to get through books whilst commuting for a few hours each day. Enjoyed the jack west series (Matthew Reilly), it’s very Indiana Jones esque. Shirlock holmes read by Stephen fry was excellent too
