Robins post match confirmed he was one of the victims to the illness in camp. Burge injured, Doyle injured, Bayliss ill, Davies injured, Grimmer injured, might have been another he mentioned had the illness too
1. Stop kicking the ball out of play straight from kick off and I'm not talking about the Kelly one - the amount of times we've started games by launching the ball out of play or straight back to the opposition (And then Robins comes out with sentences like “You need to get it right from minute one”)
2. Get Willis to actually lead the defence and get them 20 yards higher up the pitch so that our DM isn't left with the current 3 choices: a backwards 5 yard pass, or a dodgy 20 yard pass on the floor or a 45 yard hoof towards Biamou.
3. Play a left footed person on the left and a right footed person on the right.
4. Stop making Biamou do defensive work and let him play higher up the pitch closer to McNulty
5. Stop swapping the set piece taker every week. Was Barratt last week, JMD yesterday and then Shipley. Pick someone who plays every week.
I'm pretty sure England used to do it under Graham Taylor under the premise of putting teams under pressure deep in their own half straight from kick off. It's one of those things that has no logical explanation though when you look at the reality of what actually happens - possession conceded and no early momentum built up. Whenever teams do that against me, it gives me a lift, as I always take it that they're not confident enough of keeping hold of the ball on the floor. Puts a spring in my step and makes me press that bit harder, just to see. -1 point to them in the psychology stakes straight from kick off.The kick off thing is starting to piss me off, every kick off we have we give the ball away straight away. We just aimlessly hammer it forward, what's the point?
My first comment after the opening kick off on Saturday. The kick off thing is starting to piss me off, every kick off we have we give the ball away straight away. We just aimlessly hammer it forward, what's the point?

Apart from the Aquaduct? What needs to be done for Colchester? Sod 'em! What have Colchester ever done for us?! :mooning:
As you said Nick no plan! The kick off thing is starting to piss me off, every kick off we have we give the ball away straight away. We just aimlessly hammer it forward, what's the point?
I think Barrett could do with a bit of the virusPost match interview ,he's also lost around 10 -12 lbs.
As you said Nick no plan!
Has me shaking my head for sure.I don't get why it's being allowed to happen every game all season time and time again, even when we go 1-0 down we just hammer the ball out of play or to Biamou who is there on his own. Even if he wins it, it goes to their defender.
Anyone notice a traditional kick off Accrington did Saturday. 2 players kicked off as opposed to our diagonal ball.
Rare to see now
having nazon back would help too
see his goal for oldham? WORLDY
.....and there's also the risk that playing Bayliss and McNulty could have delayed or even extended their recovery timeDo not play people who are unwell. I don't want to hear after the game that McNulty was 80% or Bayliss 75%. Play a 100% fit Ponticelli, or a 100% fit Maycock - whoever, but we want athletes to put 100% out there and the manager should be making that call. Then it's up to Robbins to get them organised. Players played in correct positions. Centre midfield, hopefully Bayliss will have recovered, and Kelly improved, but I wouldn't be adverse to Shipley moved into the Centre. Reid must start left and 2 fit forwards up front. Let's bloody attack them, 3 points for a win is massive - let's have a go, instead of the pragmatic cautious approach. It's not like we'll be facing a hostile atmosphere on Tuesday - no need to fear anything.
I said before think Robins cocked up a bit with Nazon reckon he would have stayed if Robins had shown more confidence with him!
he made a difference from the bench and when he startedBaker as well? He was on the bench when he was here anyway.
We need to sort the system out, rather than hope for worldies.
I don't think he cocked up at all. If Nazon played for the team in all his games and stuck to the tasks set he'd of played more.
Nazon is solely out this season to make a name for himself, he's doing that just with his goals to raise his profile at wolves. Did it in L2 briefly, lost his way and needs the new challenge to showcase his ability. He's doing it now for oldham in L1 at his request.
Doyle isn't on your list?We need a complete change in tactics, and we need to drop a few players. The commitment wasn't there on Saturday which is shocking considering what a day it was. Some of those players need dropping, and even though his commitment was there, Biamou does too.
Depending on illness, I would go with:
Burge
Willis
Hyam (absolutely dying for a chance, he will perform)
McDonald
Stokes
Kelly
Reid (hate him but won't spite my face on this one)
Bayliss
Vincenti (his actual position)
JCH
McNulty
It's a 4-4-2 with Doyle holding and Vincenti playing just behind the strikers in the middle. I know it leaves Bayliss on the right but I can't think of anyone else who will be good enough.
It's a gamble, but after the last two games I think we need it.
he made a difference from the bench and when he started
we are starting to miss him
the fact he had a worldy in him and dribbling skills helped us overcome the poor system.
not an option to get him back now anyway so robins needs to work on tactics
Another thing that pisses me off is throw ins. Do they get fined if anybody else other than the full back takes them?
There has been times on a counter attack where it goes out for a throw, does the striker / winger or anybody run for it to get it and throw it to the player in space? Course not, we wait for the full back to stroll up to try the long throw to the player double marked with nobody else around him once everybody else is back in position.
Do they not teach any other players throw ins any more?
you also see the throw in taker looking to hit the space at the front f the 18 yard box but there's no one there. If Biamou moves into that spare there's no one for him to flick it on to. Thought that might get solved when Vicenti came on but it was still as ineffective.
indeed but a striker that can do them is a huge plus and we have lost 1 unforuntleyOnly in some games, it's the same as McNulty where we can't rely on people scoring worldies. We need team goals and a way to break teams down rather than hoping we score from 30 yards or a striker can take 2 defenders on and put it in.
indeed but a striker that can do them is a huge plus and we have lost 1 unforuntley
yes we have already agreed on thisIt's not to be relied upon though, we would be better off creating more chances and getting more normal games with a gameplan rather than just "Give it to Nazon and hope he scores".
To be fair to Mr Nazon wanted to come off on a few occasions consecutivelyI said before think Robins cocked up a bit with Nazon reckon he would have stayed if Robins had shown more confidence with him!
