I guess the version of events he was been fed and was printing was ripped apart by a high court judge. Also most of the readers thought it was rubbish. His views had IMO became unbalanced as he felt he was getting fed the inside track. Shame if he hadn't believed that stuff he may be still doing a job.....

That settles it then. at least if you google Reid it recognises him unlike Gilbert or Alan "scoop" Poole. Also many of his political articles for the guardian are well thought of. Still twitter is more important.

I don't get Schmeee and his vendetta as most local politicians were very supportive of Reid when the CET were trying to make him redundant - mutton in particular.

Fair enough. Let's compare him to another Guardian writer then. David Conn has 79, 300 followers. Oh wait that doesn't help your argument either, especially as his take was such a polar opposite to Mr Reid that the people with the smoking gun (or lack thereof) threatened him with legal action unless, IIRC the article was taken down or corrected. As none of those actions happened from either party I guess it was Mr Conn who had the inside track on what had really happened which was then confirmed by the JR result.

If he had been so biased but on the side of ACL/CCC you would have been foaming at the mouth. But he was saying what you wanted to hear. That didn't make him right. I'll not comment on Reid's ability as a journalist. I would comment on my perception of him as a man, however I believe him to be litigious and whilst I would not deliberate write anything libellous, I am not an expert at law and hence will not risk it. I will however quote him from his own Twitter page and leave you to decide what kind of person would write that on an informal public platform. The only place I would record my successes is on my CV. I will also say that he has a habit of removing all comments and blocking anyone on Twitter who disagrees with him.

I am not changing any subject. I was merely pointing out that one should judge journalistic success by other factors than twitter followers - namely the amount of awards they have received in their chosen profession. This is because other factors are at play which would encourage people to follow them. Gilbert's followers are not following him to recommend him for the Pulitzer Prize but because he is the one journalistic source for news for CCFC

As I say this is becoming tiresome.

I think if Reid was as good as he appears to think he is he wouldn't have been working for a local rag. He states he's a Guardian contributor but I can't see anything published by him since 2012.

If he did have the smoking gun or felt the truth was being suppressed in this day and age there are plenty of options for getting it out into the public domain. It might cost him his CET job (not that he seems to be working for them anyway), but you would expect him to get a better offer anyway, in fact that course of action would probably improve his career options.
