Rule is give the advantage to LeedsWhen their goal was given offside we went to play a quick one from the free kick while their players were fucking about but the ref made us wait until all of their players were back.
What's the rule on this now?
Why did he stop it then? There you go
Realistically it was the right decision wasn't it, especially given the amount of time the ref took to disallow the goal.
Yes I think so, with the delay in ruling it out it appeared to everyone the goal had been given, so in that respect they had every right to celebrate the goal.Realistically it was the right decision wasn't it, especially given the amount of time the ref took to disallow the goal.
Because most of the Leeds team were celebrating the goal that appeared to have stood. Why was it?

Sometimes a bit of common sense is required; that's why the referee always has discretion.

Come onIt was never given. There’s nothing that says everyone has to be paying attention FFS that’s on them.
Come on
Every team would have started celebrating that goal
What the referee did was the fairest way to officiate the situation.

Ref was clearly within his rights to do what he did, and it was correct.
IFAB laws of the gameWhere is this from?
The ref should have booked an out half their team for stopping a restart if you want to get pedantic.
Who says it's correct?View attachment 41290

Which law?the laws of the game
LOTG allows him to do that, so the decision is correct.Which law?
What laws that?the laws of the game
Lotg allows a quick free kickLOTG allows him to do that, so the decision is correct.
Decision can only be wrong if it's not within the LOTG.
Which law of the game? If you want to try that loophole then refs can do anything they want and say "it's in the spirit of the game" and using your logic, be correct.LOTG allows him to do that, so the decision is correct.

No, because they wouldn't be "within the framework of the laws of the game".Which law of the game? If you want to try that loophole then refs can do anything they want and say "it's in the spirit of the game" and using your logic, be correct.
Yes, both decisions would've been allowable, but basically all refs will use discretion there and allow the other team to get back.Lotg allows a quick free kick

That's fine when the defending team is out of position due to good attacking play (eg. when a cycnical foul stops a counter) but for situations like this it seems obvious to me that it is only fair to allow the team to get back in position. The whole idea of a quick free kick is to do it when the other team isn't switched on.
That’s not really a rule. A quick free kick is always at the referee’s discretion. I can see both arguments here. There you go
