If MR retains the 4231 system and does not completely switch systems or have wingers and a target man type dual purpose striker arrive this summer to be able to accommodate playing two up front I don’t see the point in retaining Chaplin.
I rate Chaplin’s potential in a big man little man combo but it could be seen as a step back in the way MR has set out his philosophy over the season and partially last year two.
I don’t see a regular starting spot here for him to develop into what he could be and see a summer of fine tuning the forwards department.
I agree in M.R's preferred formation he as no place, also I really can not see what Robins saw in him in the first place. To small for a striker he's no Messi, not particulary fast or able to dribble at speed, Portsmouth must have been laughing all the way to the bank.
