Where it’s been lost this season (1 Viewer)

we’ve dropped so many points against the teams lower down the league you simply don’t deserve automatic promotion based off this alone .
6 points against Yeovil
6 points against forest green
Defeats at port vale
Drawing with Barnet
Losing at morecambe

For some inexplicable reason we play defensive against the weaker sides (which we were doing right up until 3 nil today ) and actually go at the sides who are higher up in the table , we can’t say that these sides are sitting deep either so we can’t break them down , teams haven’t really sat deep against us for months now .

Robins has to take some blame for this , it’s not simply the players ignoring instructions as it happens an awful lot .

Today the mistake was starting Reid over Shipley , their forward / wide man ruined Haynes today and Shipley is normally Haynes cover man .
At one point bayliss was sat with Doyle almost in a back 6 , it’s just frustrating .

Set pieces , we never have a man forward so there is no outlet And the ball just comes back , it’s robins JOB to see these things and change them , but he persistently hasn’t throughout the season and ultimately Automatic promotion has GONE and he is partly to blame.

His tactics have cost us points , and quite a few , he has to learn his lessons for next season or we will drop points time and time again whatever division we are in

The only thing lost is pride. It's still all there to play for. Just a freak result. On to Notts County where a 1-0 win will have everyone gushing about autos again. Still possible but nowhere near being in our control

We are now 9 points adrift of 3rd place. It is gone.

Unless of course we win all of our last 6 matches and that's just not going to happen now is it.

On reflection I do fear for us a little, I totally expect that drubbing will have impacted on confidence and I expect we will be nervous and hesitant on Saturday. My heart says we will make it but my head Is saying we won’t...

Think Evo1883 has pretty well hit the nail on the head but with 18 points still to play for things are still very much in our hands, I think we need 4 more wins minimum though. I also don’t understand the exclusion of Shipley left our left hand side far too exposed having said that we missed. some guilt edged chances at vital times.

I too now think we will lose on Saturday. I think we well might beat Crawley though.

I predicted a draw yesterday, so wasn't expecting defeat at all.

Crawley W 1-0
Stevenage W 3-1
Lincoln D 1-1
Cheltenham D 1-1
Morecambe W 3-0

That will give us 11 points and leave us on 76. Will that be enough? Not sure.

You would hope so.

You have to Luton to that. 2-0 up to draw is 2 dropped point regardless of the opposition

Its so tight, goal difference could play a key part.

I like your predi tions, if we are to lpse two more must not be to Notts and Lincoln. As that will hurt play off ambitions.

We've simply been poor (borderline awful) in far too many games. Surprisingly, these games have been against the poorer sides.

Games like Yeovil yesterday, Morecambe away and Chesterfield away were horrdeous performances.

I remember more games where we have been poor than the ones we have been good.

What has been lost? Still very much in the frame. I can't believe certain fans have rolled over and are bleating about defeat. Thank God you aren't a player.

The last fixture of the season Morecambe at home worries me especially if we need to win. They’ve picked up some form, don’t concede many and beat us at their place.

In the last 5 games they’ve lost 1-0 to Accrington, beat Exeter 2-1, drew with Colchester and Lincoln 0-0 and drew with Swindon 1-1. All teams around us

If it is going to be lost, then surely some of it seems it should have been quite easily rectifiable.

Still hoping we make the top 7, but if we don't, there have been simple little things that have contributed to our downfall.

1. Kick offs. The ball invariably goes straight out of play

2. Throw ins. The opposition always seem to be able to throw the ball to their own man with ease, why can't we?

3. Goal kicks. Too wayward

In all above scenarios we pretty much give the ball straight back to the opposition every time.

Surely in training these things should be quite easily rectified

4. The persistence in being cautious away from home. Lost far too many games as a result.

5. Not enough goals from midfield and hardly any goals from defenders.

6. Conceding goals from corners.

Really saddening if we don't make it due in part to some of the silly little things above.

I am uncertain though on 3 games. I do honestly believe we will beat both Stevenage and Morecambe.

The two I am now most worried about are Lincoln and Cheltenham. Have them down as draws, but we could easily lose one of them.

I rate that Eisa at Cheltenham very highly.

I’d add to above if I may
2. No speed to take throw ins when attacking. No movement to give thrower options.

1&3. Predictable. No mixing it up. Same could be said at corners.

4 not just away from home. We don’t seem capable of changing tactics as required. We can’t sustain attacking football for any length.
Substitutions at times have been bizzare...either far too late or not designed to change pattern of game.

5 on the whole the midfield has been 15yds too deep.

I would add:
A)Lack of pace in the team especially up front. (Once we lost jones perhaps not so easy to rectify...but Reid has pace)
B)inability to game manage: Luton and notts (just in last few weeks but others earlier in season)

We very much depended on Jones for pace. We do lack a bit of pace now for sure. Remember how quick a couple of those Yeovil forwards were?

Absolutely....we rarely stretch the opposition. Yes Yeovil were quick up front...that’s when we miss Willis.

Goals are the difference said it all season. Nobody in the top half of the table has scored less . I know some of the problem is the defensive way we play but also carrying a striker (Biamou) does not help. If 10 more goals had come from someone playing instead of him ie Ponticelli or signing Collins when he became available, things would have been very different but we wasting money on 2 of the 3 winter signings and retaining the likes of Beavon who was never going play enough games to justify the outlay

Anybody else ordering their Accrington Stanley season ticket?

I know people love the big club label and the Ricoh but I do envy clubs like that, yes they might be "smaller" but it's about the interaction / experience.

I’ve actually been very impressed with Accrington as we’ve come to know more about them being in League two. You cant do nothing but admire what they are achieving on the pitch and the owner in the running of the club in the shadows of Burnley and Blackburn.

£1 a pint in the crown bar after a Accrington win and the players join in too I believe, gave out shirts to local kids in a big community day to the questionable McDonalds bonus the FA are unhappy about. All seems very old fashioned but it’s driven them along and deserve there spot at the top.

Seems ironic that last January at sixfields losing 3-0 were we’re singing Accrington Stanley we’re coming for you....

I hope they achieve the title

Has it been lost? Expectation v Reality!
We still have a lot to play for...yet some fans started throwing their hands up at any draw or loss since the start of the season. The chorus of McNulty wouldn't get 15 goals was hilarious.
