If we are talking post premier league I quite liked the long throw in specialist Gunnarson

Phillippe Clement...how did he not make it here ?
Had a fine career in Belgian top league and Belgian international.

George Boatang, Stuart Robson and Dean Emmerson. They could all put their foot in and win the ball, the beauty of all three was their ability to be very creative once in possession.

Best I have seen in that position for us was Stuart Robson. I was shocked when we signed him, such a class player there had to be a catch and unfortunately there was.

He managed Rugby Town for a while, surprisingly he has not been a success as a manager.

Terry Yorath once said he wasn't the greatest footballer around and he knew it; but he could always stop those that thought they were.

Eustace was promising before he got his injury, when he and Chippo were together it was almost guarenteed that we would get two yellows but they both got stuck in.

One player I feel worthy of a mention, albeit he was on a season long loan, was Steven Warnock.

Considering he's played the rest of his career at left back he was immense for us in the middle of the park that year.

Also another loan player who did well was Colin Healy, although I still remember Chippo's challenge at HR that effectively ended his career.

Oh and I might as well go for the hattrick of loans and throw Craig Hignett in there as well before he bust his leg.

Thommo for me. Loved him. Lloyd before that. Loved him more.

I'd like to put in a shout for Trond Egil Soltvedt. Was never a glamorous footballer, and I remember when Rob Gurney (unfairly in my opinion) gave him the moniker of 'Trundler'. Always stuck rigidly to his task in midfield.

However, I remember the day we sold him to Southampton was the same day we sold Huckerby to Leeds United, and more people phoned in to express disappointment at him going than Huckerby's sale.

Also agree with the shout for Carlton Palmer, his arrival allowed MacAllister to (finally) thrive in a Sky Blue shirt.

Successful coach at Arsenal though...and it probably pays more than being manager at Rugby Town. It is a testament to his ability that he was so outstanding for us, yet completely crocked with a pelvic injury that would Finnish his career.

Never set the world alight, but can we have Lee Carsely back ;) Or Dennis Wise please.

Lee Carsley was a very good player and under rated. Probably because he kept it all very simple. Certainly was a key figure in a very good Everton midfield. He was a really nice bloke, very down to earth and happy to talk to the fans.

Harry Roberts said that he(Robson) was the fittest player he had ever seen.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who could say anything positive about Dean Emerson or even put him in the same sentence as Boateng and Robson.
