We would not get £5m for SimmsHaven't read anything, but if we needed to raise money I'd be looking at selling Simms if it was possible to make 5 mil+ (although I do like him), Binks, BTA, Bidwell, and Eccles if we got an offer of 4 mil+.
I think if we start selling the core of the squad, we'd just undo the good work we've done in recruitment. I think the squad needs one more good season together to have a go at it. From the list, I'd lean towards selling MVE. I think a quality RB replacement could be found with good recruitment. Selling Wright would be madness, considering he's are top goalscorer 2 seasons running, and he missed a large chunk of this season. Goalscorers are hard to come by. I think Sheaf still has something to give the club too, even though most seem to think he'll probably spend most of next season out injured.

you'd sell the most productive forward in the league for £12m? ffsWithout a doubt, Haji.
Luxury player.
On his day he can rip any team in this league apart, but way too many matches where he offers very little. His misses against Burnley (a simple volleyed finish from Da Silva's cross) and Plymouth (header) were shocking. Had Simms or BTA missed those we'd be lambasting them.
I think he'd actually be more effective in the Premiership. If we need to sell in the summer, and someone bids £12-15million, I'd let him go.
For £15m you’d book the most profit on MVE, and he would also be the cheapest to replace. Wouldn’t want to lose any of them, but selling him would be the no-brainer.

Then again, could be argued that if you retain a solid core in midfield - Grimes, Sheaf, Rudoni, Torp, etc - you could just build the squad around them. I think controlling the game in midfield trumps all else.
There are some bizarre takes on this thread, football fans wanting to sell their top scorer
Absolutely stunned it’s so one sided TBH. I thought MvE was the obvious choice. Lots of people still don’t rate Haji even despite his scoring record. Mental really.
his recent performances away from home have been poor.
When you look at the dross we've put up with over the years up top, that have gone on to other clubs and been prolific, it's nice to actually have the prolific part of them for a change. Culprits that spring to mind are JCH who was awful everywhere but Peterborough and Connor Chaplain who was awful everywhere but Ipswich for 2 seasons. Throw Craig Bellamy in there for good measure as it's always good to have a pop at that c**t!Oh, yes he's been quite prolific throughout his career. ...... not
This could be literally any player TBF
Why?I think we could be looking at all three leaving if we fail to go up along with maybe Sheaf too.

MVE was culpable for two goals at Plymouth whereas Haji scoredNot sure voting for him out of the 3 means not rating him
Just means seeing him as more dispensable with than the others.
I don't normally agree with 'selling your goals'.
But we had our best spell of the season without him and his recent performances away from home have been poor.
It is not apathy, it is injuries and tiredness. Throw in a few dodgy ref decisions and Collin's mistakes and we are where we are.Last season we fizzled out after exiting the FA cup. Fatigue etc all blamed. This season, we really have something to play for until the end and we seem to be suffering the same apathy, even if it has started later in the season. Only Rudoni and Grimes are new recruits that are currently in the team and they are arguably our current best players. Wright seems totally disinterested for some reason and Simms has completely gone AWOL, arguably even more so since Wright has come back into the team. Any coincidence with Sheaf coming back into the team and regaining the captaincy? Any conclusions to draw?
True. But I made my judgement based on more than one game.MVE was culpable for two goals at Plymouth whereas Haji scored
Anyway in an ideal world we’d bin off Simms and Sheaf which gives ample funds to recruit
Not this seasonI’m tempted to agree but he works well with Saka and I suspect that, without him, the right hand side will suffer both in attack and defence.
That said, I suspect he has aspirations to play at a higher level and will probably want to leave.
I agree with Grendel. I'd like to think we could shift BTA + Simms + Gyokeres money and have around £11m+
...football fans wanting to sell their top scorer
Looking at a Saddles post earlier it looks like there's a few squad players out the door
Obviously not going to generate much in terms of transfer fees but should free up a chunk of wages
Which post?
Makes sense I guess, as it's not Lampards team.
Not this season
The whole premise of this thread is based on selling our best players, a ludicrous and foolish strategy. They are all under contract and I believe the club will be build on that strong foundation.
The players most likely to go are BTA, Allen, Collins and either Bidwell or DaSilva.
I am not convinced Sheaf will go, sort of thinking that to be 50/50.
Do not forget Binks and Lati have transfer value too and they are probably easy to replace.
