Why do some people support sisu and acl not the team and fans?

I have always said only two things matter: the team and us supporters, and I've never understood why lots of people have got into being either pro acl or pro sisu. The last few days have been a great example with the very strange episode of acl suing NTFC which left most fans wondering what that was all about but acl supporters defended it 100%. Now it's the sisu supporters saying the Ricoh should be sold to sisu. Really? Are we all supposed to forget the selling of so many players, lack of investment, relegation to the third tier, complete disregard for fans in moving to Northampton, failing to file accounts and what about the promises of a new stadium? Only two things matter – the team and the fans not supporting acl or sisu!!

Don't agree with you very often, but I do on this.

Being pro or anti SISU/ACL has very little to do with not supporting the team Michael....It is possible to be vehemently opposed to the way the club is being run and having sympathy for the position of one of the groups without it meaning you don't support the team or the fans. Our club has been all but been destroyed by money men from all sides without a care for the feelings of the fans or the future of CCFC so a little surprised you've never understood why anyone would be against them! *edit...or pro them for that matter!*

yep its there tho so why not just put ccfc and leave it at that or even ACL and SISU not ccfc

Because he's making the point that people should support the team, the same point that MichaelCCFC is making in fact?

Rather than writing an epic reply I might get round to e-emailing you at some point as you suggested yesterday. But one of the reasons I've found it difficult to back supporters protests, be it against ACL or SISU, is the negativity that it generates supporting the team. Even at the Ricoh, when the team went behind, it was hardly inspiring to hear noisy chants of "we want SISU" out when the team would surely benefit more from actual positive football chants. I'd be much more inclined to support a more positive campaign.

Yeah, while I'm here... ;)

Guess it depends how you take it. If you take his message literally, then of course it's possible to support the team by being critical of particular actions by the people involved. As Michael mentions in fact, ACL's suing of Northampton and SISU's failing to file accounts are two fine examples! Being critical of both can make you still supporting the team and the fans.

Take it on a wider context, and blindly supporting or criticising the actions of one side or the other regardless of what they do, however, is surely supporting one side rather than the team? Even SISU can still do some things 'right', and ACL some things 'wrong' after all.

I think I probably did take the post too literally NW...it's early and my brain doesn't start to function properly until at least 3.00pm! I still don't see how supporting one stance or another means you're not supporting the team as well though.

I find SISU more culpable than ACL/council in this whole sorry saga.

I think ACL suing Northampton was as futile as the JR. Both are expensive and doomed for failure.

I am struggling to find anyone who defended ACL suing Northampton 100%.

Can the OP or anyone who completely agrees with him for that matter enlighten me please?

Also can't see how having an opinion over who is more culpable affects your support for the team?

Can that logic be explained?

If you feel ACL are more responsible or SISU

Does that mean you don't jump up and down when Cov score?

I agree with most. One question though, how do you best support the team?

I'd say 95% of us support Coventry City, but ACL and SISU have worked hard in ensuring we can't even do that anymore.

There's nothing pro about my signature for either side. CCFC for me.

why have your and its ACL signature at the bottom of all your posts then

I don't think anyone would think that ACL were more culpable than SISU. However, there are many who lay no blame at the door of ACL. Personally, I blame both - lion's share obviously at SISUs door.

I would be fine with SISU getting the Ricoh as that looks like the only way we will return from Northampton. I also think it would make the club more attractive for when SISU eventually leave.

I agree with Michael that fans shouldn't support ACL or SISU, just CCFC. I find all the sycophantic backing of ACL and PWKH, "oh thank you PWKH. Your words are beautiful and I love you, etc etc" rather than the club strange.

SISU were stupid to stop paying the rent and moving us out of the City. ACL were equally stupid (regardless of what PWKH and others say) for loading the rent so much that a team of our standing was always going to struggle - as evidenced back in December 2005 when Robinson tried to re-negotiate the rent. Hence, why I think both sides should shoulder some blame in this.

I find SISU more culpable than ACL/council in this whole sorry saga.

Torch thanks for the reply, most of what you say makes sense.

However the Op suggests two main points

Fans were backing ACL suing Northampton 100%

(Where does he get this from)

If you feel one side is more culpable than the other in this sorry saga you are somehow choosing that side over the team.

( I would suggest the majority of people would find it completely separate to their support if the team)

Even those who are sacrificing seeing their team. Do it as they think it is best thing long term for their team. Ie they are putting their team and trying to get it back to Coventry over their own need to watch the team.

You personally think the quickest way that will happen is if the council sell the Ricoh.

For that to happen you need SISU negotiating on a sensible negotiating level. Pressure needs to be put on SISU for them to negotiate.

"I will buy it at my price" just won't cut it

There was a post yesterday where somebody said to have the Sheff U game on at the Ricoh so ACL could get one up over the club.... random?

So when they play in Northampton you aren't fussed? Then when they go to an away ground with the same players do you support them?

I'm not sure many people do support Sisu. I've been called a Sisu supporter on here many times, when in fact all I try/like doing is picking faults in peoples posts. The majority of which are 100% no holds barred anti Sisu

In the real world I still support the team, go to away games, (I've been to one home game) and listen on the radio. It's as simple as that.

Don't think any party have come out of this mess with much credibility but i'm also not sure its so much pro SISU or pro ACL more ANTI either. But all the negativity isn't going to help IMHO but equally i know not what will help except supporting the team.

kyle was treated like shit by fans, a low point for fanbase imo

I agree. That is 1 thing I have always hated being a Cov fan is all the stick players are given. If i remember correctly it was the red away kit yes.

I think this thread highlights that we all want the same thing, we are all city supporters simply want to watch our team like we used too. Whether at the moment you choose to watch them in N'ton doesnt make you pro SISU, its just the fact that you simply want to watch your team play! Supporters approaches are clearly manifesting in different ways but we all want the same thing sadly the reality of the situation is that we are reliant on the two parties in question, which sucks ass!
