Why the Change of Mood? (1 Viewer)

Can someone please explain to me the change in people's mood regarding Thorn? I genuinely do not get it. My views are very obvious and would have been the same had we won 4-1.
Two days ago the pious fraternity were saying that discussing the manager is boring and it is not what the majority want to discuss and yet now that is all that is being discussed.
Why, it is only a friendly? What do we know different - Thorn loses football matches (8 out 10 he fails to win if you prefer) but people seem to accept that and I assume think this will improve.
I am sure we will not be losing by 4 to Yeovil and Bury and I am sure will win at least 1 of the first 3 games. I just cannot see how friendly matches suddenly make people wake up to the notion the manager may not be up to much.

I'm sorry to say this site is getting boring Atm always the same threads about thorn should leave and thorn should play this formation. None of you have Uefa manager licenses. and after a friendly defeat although not good everyone says the players are shit and thorn should be sacked and the season is still 2 weeks away.

How do you know who has UEFA Licenses? I know a couple of people with them, they think Thorn is pants too ;)

Thorn didn't have manager licenses for most of last season did he?

Erm Team GB thread got moved to Football....You know where threads about non CCFC stuff goes?

The same as if somebody asks about how to work their PC it will go in technical....

Why would the boards be merged during pre season?

But my point is very few people wanted the discussion until now. Managers don't get sacked for 1 friendly defeat - why the fervour now? It's senseless.

Exactly, nobody is judged on friendlies and I don't think AT should be either. It should be kick off against Yeovil where results really matter.

Lets just stick with the 10 or so threads about Andy Thorn then

So what difference would merging forums make? There would still be 10 threads about Andy Thorn, if not more because it would be harder for people to see them so they would make one..

I think some of it is on the back of our not just losing but being 'woefully inept' and Clarke hinting that maybe not all is happy in the camp.

Only happy when we're whinging!!!

Like I said in the Poll post, we've levelled criticism at about 20 different people, owners, players, managers, coaches, radio presenters.....

I understand opinions are good and we all see things differently but the constant negativity just makes this site seem like a joke. It's not even constructive, name calling and piss taking like in a school playground. Then after abusing players etc you want them to show loyalty. Lol.

The thing is some people have not rated Thorn for months now.... If you read all of the posts a lot of it is constructive, sometimes people do get personal towards Thorn but that is a tiny minority of people who don't rate him.

It's his apparent inability to think on his feet to change things around. Last season we played with the Diamond formation mostly and teams found us out very quickly. He rarely shifted from this. He appears to be sticking to a formation in the friendlies and the team don't look like they can be adept at it. You play a formation that fits the players not ask the players to fit a formation. Substitutions were also dodgy at times. A nice guy isn't always the right guy for the job. We need a manager with a footballing brain rather than someone with a football for a brain.

No, apparantly all the negativity towards Thorn is based purely on this years pre season. Nothing to do with 25 plus inept performances last season. It's purely based on losing a friendly to Wrexham. Nothing else whatsoever.

I think we have a lot of very disillusioned fans at the moment who are absolutely fed up to the back teeth with poor performances from our squad of players - many of whom we have greeted enthusiastically into the club - if AT cannot motivate them to get winning or at the very least give everything they have for every game then he has to go - I don't want to see this happening after a dozen games when we are already in a poor league position. The manager is the key to our future prospects and I for one am a bit sensitive about that at the moment

Well the Thorn out campaign has only kicked in during the last seven days, is this because the half-arsed SISU out campaign has fizzled out and they've allowed some arrivals? Or because a team of fringe players lost to a Nuneaton side who celebrated their winner like it was the World Cup final, then followed it up with a defeat to Wrexham?

Where were the host of Thorn out posts prior to last week?????

People have been saying that Thorn isn't good enough for months.

I agree to some extent, but it doesn't bode well does it? Peoples frustrations with AT started a long time ago and that was in a higher division. With only League 1 football to look forward to, fans are becoming more vocal. The best way to shut people up is if a few friendlies were won.

Exactly! WIN a few games AT and we will have some confidence in you and the team

Hi Nick,
I aqgree, BUT........If we had won them all, the mood would have been Orgasmic, It appears a friendly only matters when you win it, and the losses
are an insignificant, training excersise.

As I said on a thread last night ,while it ain't nice and none of us like it ,will it really define the season ahead for the teams that have tanked us ?The answer is surely NO, so why should it define ours.:thinking about::(

At least it has been a reality check for a lot of us.
