2nd half of the season teams towards the bottom generally tend to pick up results, unless they really aren't good enough. I think we are good enough, we just need someone to keep banging in all the chances we create. If that doesn't happen then we go down but if we can keep scoring then we'll give ourselves a very good chance of survival. The other thing is, we're playing a lot of teams around us in this coming month, that's very important.

we have won the last 3 at home, so is another 7 at home too much to ask for? i don't think so. 9/10 games ago we were aiming at 1 team outside the bottom3, there are now 5/6 teams to realistically catch, that IMO is the difference.

do you realistically think we're going to win 7 of our last 9 games at home? The majority are winnable but there's a fair few against fellow relegation strugglers, which aren't going to be easy

I think you need to go back and look at the table - 9 games ago we were 2nd from bottom 6 points from 21st place , and had 6 teams outside the relegation zone within 8 points of us (up to 16th),

Now we are bottom still 6 points from 21st place but there are only 4 teams outside the relegation zone within 8 points (up to 18th) so there are actually have less teams we can catch however realistic/unrealistic.

Sad, but true.

You can argue your heart out the reasons why we ARE going down, there are still those of us who will not/don't want to think about it UNTIL it is mathematically impossible to do. I'm just having a little bit of belief and there is nothing wrong with that.

Well, that's fine then. Keep blaming the owners, keep moaning and SISU as I'm sure that will help. We can blame SISU until we are blue in the face, but we have a situation here and giving up isn't the way we'll get out of it.

Luckily, the players are giving a fuck and are actually trying to play football. They haven't given up and I applaud them for it.

Which players are this then ?

Freddie "Any more of that cheesecake going spare" Eastwood
James "I want to go back to Scotland" McPake
Captain, Sammy "I'll be off the summer" Clingan
Martin "see above" Craine
Cody "I need a pre season" McDonald

Now, granted, some of the squad give their all, but lets not pretend that as a rule, any of them (asside from the Cov fans like Thomas and Sheff) would lose any sleep if we went down.

I think Platt would! He's waited his whole career to prove his worth at this level!

We need to match the form of at least three other very poor teams and win out games against them.

Do that and we are three points behind, which is nothing. Even less if those just above us have to play each other (which they do)

We don't need play off form or a certain amount of wins. Just to do as well as the worst teams in the division.

Our goal difference is an indicator to me that we can survive this. We talk about the team not being good enough but truly awful teams get outplayed and well beaten. We are losing by the odd goal and no one is really turning us over. We have been unlucky on a few occasions and seemingly clueless on a few as well but we arent being out played often. A few goals hitting the net and we are a team playing good football and looking in form. I wont write us off until its impossible to stay up because we may be bad but we arent dreadful.

Beg to differ somewhat.

I recall one or two teams being relegated after they kept losing by the odd goal and were said to have been playing good football. Goal difference can be important. You need enough points first though.

Whatever happens, we need a really good run at some stage. An 'unbeaten in 6 or 7' would do nicely.

I think we will know in the next couple of games. Wins against Blackpool and Ipswich and we could do it. Lose them both and ... league 1 here we come!
