Why we should get behind Thorn (1 Viewer)

Otis that has everything to do with it.
Sell your best players and reinvest nothing = team performances Over the season that will not be able to compete.

Make your mind up, what is the problem, Thorn ? Or lack of effort ?
As you clearly are arguing it.

Lack of effort is down to the manager surely? If players don't put the effort in then you drop them and pick players who do put the effort in. And we did put the effort in against West Ham, so we can clearly do so when we want to.

Against West Ham we were at their throats, closing down space and knocking them off their stride. The following week we put in a first half performance of total ineptitude against Brighton. It is the manager's job to motivate the team and players.

We need that West Ham effort every game. Or at least an attempt to put in that type of effort. Too many times we have gone into games backing off, allowing space and looking really lethargic. Not acceptable. Can accept a lack of quality, cannot accept a lack of effort.

Can I just add that I came away from that West Ham game with a smile on my face despite the defeat, as I knew then that if we put that same effort in every game we would have a fighting chance. I would be 100% behind Thorn if we lost every single game but put that effort in. Unfortunately West Ham effort lasted for just one single game.

We have always sold our best players though. And King and Westwood were luxuries that no Coventry manager should expect to have.

We always sell our best players always have always will.
People are having a go at sisu, players as well as AT.
Sorry but they are investing back in just not in the way we would all want I want sisu out just as much as the next person but they will not go until they want to.
So lets follow blindly accept relegation tell the FA to just put a R next to us in the league people can save there money and do something else on a saturday and all the players can have a nice early holiday because the fans don't want there team to fight for survival and the manager can come back in for pre season after a long holiday and get ready for league 1.
Because we will struggle in that league why on earth are some waiting/accepting relegation and not trying every avenue possible to try and get our season turned around as quick as possible , do some honestly think league 1 will be a doddle?

Feel I am banging my head against the wall here.

There is a lack of investment, we are players short, this squad isn't strong enough, we have sold some of our best players ..... I say again, what the hell has that got to do with getting a team to play with a bit of fight?

We did it against West Ham. AT must have said "Close them down, knock them off their stride, get in their faces." So what did he say against Brighton? Do the same and they just ignored him? These players who are 100% behind him and rate him so much? Or did he say "Let's get back to our passing game and try and beat them that way." Sort of points towards the latter doesn't it.

If we close down teams and try to knock them off their game then we have a chance to survive. Carry on the way we are now and we have no chance whatsoever.

Why? Too many times this season we haven't shown the required spirit. That is not ridiculous. The West Ham game proved that we can play that way. Why on earth is that ridiculous. The tactics are wrong.

If we played say Accrington or Hereford in the cup how would they set out their stall? To try and compete on an equal footing or get in our faces and disrupt our game? This is exactly the stance we took against West Ham. Why can we only do this for one game?

Agree. Totally agree. That proved that we can do it. Why just the one game though? If we applied ourselves like that every week we would have more points. I am totally convinced of that. In fact I would say that playing this way is our only hope.

If we had better players we would be higher up the table because the only thing that is stopping us is lack of quality, not any of this lack of effort bollocks that you insist on using just because you have to hound someone to place the blame on.

So sack Thorn then bring in another manager and blame him in six months time, call for him to get the sack, then do the same again and again and again and again.

Because that will work won't it.

We are living proof that it works aren't we.

Heres a thought, as we have accepted relegation because the players have had their legs chopped off and the manager had his brain taken out, therefore leaving the rest of the season completely futile, why not just fire anybody we can (except Thorn obviously given his record so far). Play a few fans in the second half as a half time raffle prize, bring back a couple of legends each game. I mean it might at least put a few bums on seats. Then at the end of each game we could make a human sacrifice in the centre circle (preferably someone who sings the interbred song) to the great Thorneus, The crazy cockney god of tactics. We might even get a mention on Midlands Today

Gaz you agreed with me that the tactics worked against West Ham. Think the penny is not dropping with you, Gaz. There is a lack of quality. How can anyone say that we are putting out the best effort we can out on that pitch though? West Ham proved we could do it, work hard and give it our best shot, but it's one game in 19. We haven't closed down teams all season long and have allowed too much space. That has nothing to do with quality as it is exactly what a lower league team would do against us to try and compensate for the difference in quality.

It seems clearly apparent that Thorn believes we can get out of this league by continuing this passing game we are deploying now. The table says different.

Agree. And can I add that I have never called for Thorn to be sacked. I have said that I would like to see help brought in to give him a hand and that I don't want to see him lose his job. How the fook is that hounding?

2006/07 = 17th

That's our last five final league positions in the championship.

So why the hell is Andy Thorn expected to do better than ? And not only that but having to do so without the three best players we had AND BUGGER ALL INVESTMENT.

If your car continuously failed to start first time would you eventually fix it or keep suffering believing it will just get better? When do you decide to fix it? How much patience do you have? New spark plugs might fix it...cheap an easy. It might not but I'm sure you would try that first rather than keep suffering?

Following on from that if you invested correctly in the car , had it serviced and replaced new parts for old and modified it to make it better....... it would start every time .......
