Reduce the Ricoh's capacity

Now that we have been relegated, would it make sense for the capacity to be reduced. Maybe cover a few rows around the top of the stadium in order to get the fans together? Obviously fans that have already bought tickets in those seats would have to move down. Something needs to be done, its demoralising having empty seats everywhere.

They can fook off...I've renewed my season ticket in row XX in block 18.

....and if we are in the top few vying for promotion you assume the crowds will be smaller than those we had during a relegation atrocious season?

Why not wait and see what transpires before picking at every negative you can train your thoughts on?

as embarrassing as it is they will definitely close one of the stands, not just some rows of it. Closing a whole stand will cut down on stewarding and kiosk staff etc.

Negative? By reducing the size of the stadium and improving the atmosphere i see that as a positive. Maybe you like to sit in silence watching the football and enjoy being surrounded by empty seats? In which case i see your point, im being very negative.

It must be like bloody Wembley compared to most League 1 grounds. Teams will come here and will likely raise their game accordingly in such plush surroundings, backed by away fans visiting a new ground while singing "YOUR GROUND'S TOO BIG FOR YOU!"

The sooner we can make CV6 a place to fear for visiting teams, the better. That hasn't happened really since MA was in charge.

will never happen on cop advice but would love to get nearer the away fans (i know wont be too many of em but you never know being the wembley of the division an all that!) maybe one block only as segregation and shove em all up to the corner of the main stand and get us behind the goal, its a deffo to get the atmosphere going as people quite rightly point out its only us upper block 15 and 16ers that get it going anyway so get us closer to the oppo. Close the ET altogether maybe and stick a massive cov flag over the seats just a thought.

all this shit this season has made me want to make an even bigger effort to get to the ricoh next season....for reasons i cant explain, hope these hard times has made more people feel the same and we can get decent crowds next season

In this type of plastic modern stadium having a 'singing' corner is about as good as it's ever going to get for atmosphere - and it can be pretty alright on the bigger occasions. So no, let's not change anything, the ends are way too spaced out to be anything like the west terrace, this was established with the failed experiment with home fans in the Jewson a few years ago

Don't agree myself and part of the problem is the distance between fans occupied by empty seats.

I think it will be quite the opposite unfortunately. I expect 8000 ST holders and a gate of approx 12k per game with walk up, casuals and away fans.

tbh you are totally wrong, TPH has it spot on. I worked at the walkers during the 2010/2011 season and the atmosphere there was always cracking. They had an average of about 18,000 and they were always singing, cheering etc. The problem with the Ricoh in all honesty is the lack of entertainment failing to draw in large crowds.

I was at the Womens FA Cup and the atmosphere was great, because the football was entertaining although the attendance was not that good.

Tbh I think the whole design of the Ricoh doesn't help. The away should have been put in the scoreboard corner with Cov fans either side of them. As it is until we dont have 4 blocks of segregation between the main singing blocks and the away fans we will probably struggle to get a decent atmosphere anyway.

Only 1300 season tickets sold so far. 8000 seems a bit on the high side. I understand that might be right for big games or if we were looking at promotion with 10 games to go. .. but our bread and butter games will be 4 to 6 thousand.

Might as well just use one stand and create an atmosphere. I also think the owners will have to take a hit financially to get crowds in. Free passes for schools. 10 pounds on the gate. Free passess for large businesses in the city. Lower rates for unemplyed. . 5 pounds a game for kids ... 5 pounds for uni students.

Of course they won't do this but they need to if they eat any kind of atmosphere at all

That's nothing to do with design though. The segregation is not permanent and the away fans could easily be moved under the Scoreboard.

I honestly believe they should do a season ticket lottery .. 5 pound a ticket. Only 30000 tickets available. 15000 season tickets to win. Giving you a 1 in 2 chance of winning a season ticket for a fiver.

Gets another 15000 in the arena. At the sametime revenues can be raised by other means within the ground on matchday. That way we could have 20000 every game.

I think I know the guys you sit with. I'm in block 18 and I recognised a couple of lads from Leamington who sit up there a few rows behind us. Are you or one of your mates a big lad with dark hair - used to play pool down the bottom of town (I think in the closed down Leam Social?) ... or I could of course have it all wrong! I also remember seeing him going back a good few years at HR stood on the old Spion Kop for a cup game shouting "Fish" constantly at the Grimsby fans after a few lagers (may have even had an inflatable) Halycon days!

Brighton sky blue ... how do they lose money they don't have in the first place. . . Igor yeah right I see. .. we are really going to have a great atmosphere with 5000 fans ... we wouldn't want 20000 there would we. So what if the owners lose the greatest these fans would have paid. .. these fans aren't paying anyway.
