No. Health and safety being one. Football going away from it's working class roots is another.

I Know but what a time shame what it has all come too.
Arguing about grounds owners etc used to be so simple back then.
The passion seems to have been drained away.

I remember being at the game between us and Wolves in April '67. I was 14 and loved it! Crazy days! Over 51,000!

Houchen, yep I was just coming up to 16. Brilliant day. Though I nearly didn't get in. Thousands climbed over walls to get in. Must have been 60,000, they were everywhere. On the roof of the West End. On the floodlights, right up to the touchline. Sardines.
The potential of this club is pretty big. These days, with a team going for it, 30,000 easy.
We have owners who aren't in the slightest interested in that.
Just about to start Keith's 'Kippers' book. Some good City news for a change. From the days when Coventry played in Coventry.

Next time we see this will probably be MK Dons away when they have the upper tier open:D

(P.S. Football league show on in the background with Russell Slade saying Cov are probably the best team they've faced in the division this year)

Was that pic the day Notts Forest won the league, and we gave them all of the Kop?
Think it was 87-88 v Liverpool which we lost 4-1, around 27000. I do remember the Forest game though.
We have given the kop end away on a few occasions over the years , West ham , West brom , Forest are ones i remember

My bad, on the phone, small pic. Forest was the only one I remembered where they were on the light pylons.

Not if Sisu/Otium build Legoland we won't. There was at least 50k in the ground that day and yet Sisu/Otium tell us that we will NEVER achieve more than 22k. That's ambition for you and that is Sisu/Otium's typical arrogance in not looking at history, potential and listening to reason. I am only 40 but remember going on the kop as a kid and the atmosphere a football ground could create. If Sisu/Otium ever get their way, we will never see this or anything close to it ever again in my opinion.

All 72 FL clubs have been approached to share their views on introducing safe standing zones into grounds, which is a step closer back to the working class game I guess, would definitely improve atmospheres in grounds.

Will the tickets be any cheaper though? Its no longer a working mans sport imho, added to that there are so many other things that can be done instead of going to the match. Thats why brain-washing of the next generation is essential :)

We could see a crowd like that looks like that in the future. The difference would be if Joy built the 12,000 stadium.....remember Timothy doesn't bluster.........and the average attendance from the Ricoh wanted to go to a game.

Was at the game and NO we will never ever see crowds like this again.

The World has changed and moved-on (not nessesarily for the better, by the way), health & safety, PC etc.. etc..

As supporters we must move on too, even if that means we have to play away from the City until we can build and own our own stadium.

I do agree but I should hope if safe standing were introduced tickets in those areas would be significantly cheaper. It's all sky's fault for pumping money into the PL however I do love watching the big PL games on sky.

The days of swaying terraces are long gone. The only top level standing that'll ever come about will be rail seating where you basically stand in front of the seat allocated to you.

I remember the difference between standing on the kop at HR and standing at Liverpool.
At Coventry you leant on the barriers. At Liverpool you found a spot immediately in front of a barrier, so when the crowd surged forward the barrier protected you from joining in the surge. At Liverpool leaning on the barrier could turn into being pinned on the barrier.

As supporters we do not have to move and we will never own a stadium, it will be SISU if they ever build it. Wake up it will not be ours.

I was there when we got fifty odd thousand verses Wolves as a twelve year old kid,and also when we packed the Ricoh for the Crewe paint trophy tie. We have the capability to fill the Ricoh each game with City fans even now but not while we are being run by morons.Leicester,Wolves, and Derby are doing it because they are at or near the top of their divisions, but so would we if we were back "home" and not in Northampton.

Gave the Kop end away? Do you remember Newcastle at home HR in the FA Cup, they brought over 15000 it was like we had given the ground away. Great atmosphere, a draw if I remember and think we got hammered in the replay..

I admire your optimism - when does temporary become permanent in your opinion my friend?

5-7 years?

But CCFC will never own a ground regardless of what you believe.

Even Fisher was honest enough to tell us that, the investors are putting in money for that reason to invest not to help CCFC.

The days of us owning a ground are long gone and what good did it do us anyway.
