Working class lads trying to better themselves to help their family?Oh yeah great luck to him, the Thatcherite society
Deserves a crack at Championship and I think he’ll do well. With Luton? Time will tell, as they will likely be fighting for their lives in the next division up
Cranie was a decent championship defenderGood luck to him but a bit like his goalkeeping friend flattering himself if he thinks he's Championship quality
Then again Martin Cranie's just got promoted so what do I know...
Yeah yeah yeahHe has one go at a career. He has to maximize his earnings, just like any professional in any activity. He would be mad to pass up playing for a financially stable club in a higher league. All that loyalty bollox is for deluded fans. I thought he was over-rated anyway. Good but not Maddison. Can be replaced
If the club bins him off at 18 the cost is on them, not him. The £600k a year on the academy isn't insignificantTypical nonsense from you. He has done his bit for our club and doesn't deserve your disdain If he hadn't been good enough to take his opportunity the club would have binned him off without any second thought. He could have left to the Championship before now anyway when Rotherham wanted him a few seasons back, but he stuck with us, scored one of our play off final goals, and both Hyam and Davies have developed into better players by playing alongside him. Ironically that means we are in a better place to handle his loss now, as we already have a decent League 1 pairing in place, and that loss will not be so badly felt as if he had left us this season or last.
He's been injured. Is he entitled not only to sign contracts somewhere else but to a guaranteed place in the first 11?Working class lads trying to better themselves to help their family?
Good luck to the lad
He's been out of the starting 11 recently
I guess he understood that's the way it is
Cranie was a decent championship defender
Does that mean he has to learn a new language?
One of the better players when we got relegated hence him leaving and sustaining a career at that level and better since.Pretty half arsed from what I remember
Some games great...
Some games average.
I agree about his pace being key and therefore both Hyam and Davies better with him, but they're certainly not too similar. All 3 have different top attributes and if we could clone them we'd make a world class defender. Imo Willis has pace to burn such a valuable asset at this level, Hyam is more composed on the ball (reminds me a bit of Gary Gillespie or Phil Babb) whereas Davies will stick his head in, put his body in the way anything just good old fashioned defending, but passing sometimes lets him down and both lack a bit of pace.I think hes been excellent this season. Must admit I think the centre back pairing of Hyam and Davies are a bit too similar. I think we've looked steonger when we've had Willis' pace alongside one of them.
Agreed. Think he was overrated. I think we've looked much better the last few games with a Hyam/Davies partnership. He has one go at a career. He has to maximize his earnings, just like any professional in any activity. He would be mad to pass up playing for a financially stable club in a higher league. All that loyalty bollox is for deluded fans. I thought he was over-rated anyway. Good but not Maddison. Can be replaced
He’s one of our own, he’s one of...
He’s leaving.
Oh, well he’s overrated anyway.
Some games need a lot of loving and some games don’t
Bit of a cliche isn't it? Fans will literally say that about every star player who leaves their club. I believe the same was said about McNulty when he departed to Reading, yet fans were desperate for him to come back in January due to our struggles in front of goal. Willis has been excellent for us, especially over the past two seasons and is now arguably one of the best CB's in the division. Hopefully we can replace him or someone steps up, but it's of my opinion that we'll miss him.
Puzzles me why some fans still take it so personally when a player leaves for pastures new, despite the fact that they're usually offered vastly improved terms at their new club. Plus, they also don't have to ignore elephants in the room such as their own club being under threat of becoming homeless season after season. Employees leaving for better pay etc. happens in every single industry, not sure why footballers are scathed for making a decision any normal human being would. I actually find the thought process rather childish to be honest. That's not necessarily directed at you by the way. A particular collection of posters on this thread do sound bitter beyond belief though. I mean it's not like he scored a crucial goal in the Play-Off Final or remained with us in the lowest division in the EFL despite receiving Championship only 6 months before, or anything.
I've not really got an issue with him leaving. Can't really blame him at all.
New start down south, is his girlfriend based down there?
I don't buy into the good luck to him rubbish, this club gave him a massive opportunity and he repays it by fucking off on a free transfer.
What a strange viewpoint.
Luton just got a new manager in for next year.
If it's a done deal already he wouldn't have had much say?
