Winding house lane (7 Viewers)

they didn't even make an attempt to close it off as far as I could tell, not even any cones. Admittedly the cones seem to do nothing as they get moved but they've even given up on that now.

should just stick a van there with a mobile camera. I'm sure after a few games of getting penalty charge notices for driving on the wrong side of the road people would think twice.

if they aren't going to do anything just open it up, make a plan for how to deal with the volume of pedestrians and make sure people know there will be traffic using the road.

I left half hour after the end and the one side was still not moving and cones in place!

Cars crossing the pedestrian stream and booting it up the road. No cones blocking off the T junction.

The issue is exactly that, they stop traffic on one side but then people just drive on the wrong side of the road.

I left the ground bang on the final whistle as had to get to the SkyDome for a 6pm start. The lane cars should be using to come out of Burbages Lane and turn left was coned off as usual but the other side of the road (ie: the side of the road for cars turning from Winding House onto Burabages) was not coned off and as usual cars were forcing their way through the pedestians, then speeding off up Winding House towards Wheelwright.

There's no way to turn right from Burbages onto Winding House even when there are no restrictions in place let alone when there are. It's a no right turn junction so there should be zero traffic at any time coming out of Burbages onto Winding House.

Hmm. Committing a driving offence then.

Who is contracted to close the roads off? Is it the council using a third party company?

Surely all they need to do is make sure that it's fully blocked off and if not, close that car park down if it's not an official one. Do the people running it even own the land? :ROFLMAO:

Anyone looking for some easy money? Just throw yourself across the bonnet of these illegal drivers and you’ll be quids in.

I’ve no idea. I think you must be the only one left that reads the Coventry (evening) Telegraph.
It was around a year ago tbf followed by a weird article about that candy floss stadium plan of ours following the Spurs match, both articles seemed strange, can't remember if that was placed in one of the nationals!

So the safety improvement is making things more dangerous then?

If you mean the original closing of the road then that has defiantly made things safer in general.

With this particular issue it's 100% down to drivers deciding they are much more important than everyone else's safety and are entitled to drive on the wrong side of the road to make an illegal right turn.

Since it's been flagged as a problem precisely nothing seems to have been done to change it apart from put a couple of cones out one game that were immediately moved.

In which case you are on the gypsy camp or are you are buying the massive house with the car forecourt.
Is it the gypsy camp they're using for car parking? You can't get to Cov Welsh from that end can you and the roads too narrow to be street parking, not to mention it would be in the no parking zone.

Who looks after the road closures?

It’s scandalous that the residents on Burbages Lane are not allowed to leave their homes, just because there is a football match on.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there can't be many houses on Burbages Lane that can't drive up to Wheelright Lane.

I'm pretty sure there aren't many houses downhill of the bollards.

Edit: Just seen the reply from @Nick . Agreed.

No, the gypsys are charging people to park on the car park of the old social club.

Cov Welsh is the other other side.

At a guess it will be the stadium management team as it's the same traffic plan for all events but the actual road closure part will have to be the council. And I would bet they charge a fair amount of money for doing it.

Maybe that's the answer. Someone stops paying the invoices until they properly enforce it.

Or maybe get someone sent out to ensure they have the right permits, insurance etc.

So it needs policing then.

A couple of matches ago I asked the traffic staff standing around by the traffic lights why cars weren’t being stopped for using the wrong lane cutting across pedestrians and turning right. They said they had not been told to block off that lane.

It’s fairly normal to lose access to your road for events. When I lived in foleshill foleshill road was often shut for a bit. If your nan had a stroke or whatever they’d just let you through.

Twats. Need some officious jobsworths there.
