For me the signing I was really excited about and turned out to be complete waste of money was Eastwood. I really thought he would be a difference maker but he just couldn't be bothered. Complete disappointment. Also Bellamy falls into similar catagory but he has the added misery of a huge pricetag and the fact he is a complete bellend.

Forgot all about him. He was absolutely shite and makes my top 3.Top this:
McIndoe.
Cost a biggish fee at the time. Flopped. Ripped off his team mates (allegedly)
Yep-that one is an absolute stinker!I can't believe we paid more than £1m for Telfer...
As rubbish as he was, I did enjoy us having Eastwood, Westwood and Northwood in the team all at once.
My memory must be failing me. I was sure we had a player on loan called somebody Northwood. Google suggests I’m imagining it though.
A lot of just bad players instead of bad signing in here.
But signing a bad player doesn't mean the signing was necesarily bad. Signing Allissani for example could be viewed as bad because he hasn't made an impact but was a cheap young pickup from non league with no risk. Bringing someone in for a million quid even if they play more games and score more goals would be a bad bit of business if you were relying on them. You can't have someone play for you without them signing some form of deal, even if it's pay-as-you-play or someone from the youth system who has signed pro terms.
I think Nick Proswicz (agreed absolutely useless) was on loan. We should start another list of ‘loan failures’.....most likely an even higher number of contenders.Leon barnett
Reece brown
Nick proswicz
The Bournemouth trio
Yakubu
That’s not even the worst part. Shortly after joining us Blackburn offered £3MM+. We rejected it for reasons beyond any rational explanation.I can't believe we paid more than £1m for Telfer...
Agreed Terry and you make some fair points. Hartson is disqualified as a serious contender in this list of misfiring contenders though as 1. He was sensational for us on the pitch (albeit too late as you rightfully point out) and 2. He was sold at a significant profit.A bit left field but what about John Hartson? Great player but a really poor signing in that he was signed too late! I seem to remember us being linked with him months before he actually signed. What might have been...
I watched Kyle Lightbourne play for Stoke in a pre season friendly against a local Isle of Man team around 2000. I had a fantastic view from the touch line. Kyle was by far the worst player on the pitch. Never understood how he made it as a professional.Zuniga was a very good player that was never given a run of gamnes to prove his ability.
Worst ever (well recent) signing was Yakubu.
Less recent, Kyle Lightbourne.
Cobi Jones still holds the record for the most international caps (164) by a US male player (there's a female player with 352).Think it was the draw for the 2010 World Cup finals and the FIFA announcer was hyping it up..
" To make the draw for the finals groups in South Africa, three legends of World football"
"Pele!"
"Franz Beckenbaur!"
"Cobi Jones!"
The worst thing about the Moldovan signing is that we didn't need to spunk £4m on a striker. We had Dublin and Huckerby that season who were flying and were a superb partnership. My memory may be hazy but I'm certain Strachan played Moldovan in the FA Cup Quarter Final against Sheffield United and put Dublin at CB, in the 1-1 home draw. The game was cryng out for Dion up top.
The £4m could've been spent on improving a pretty wobbly defence.
I agree. Just trying to think of someone. He cost us £5mil right? What did we get for him again?Agreed Terry and you make some fair points. If hartson signed a few months earlier we’d have stayed up. I’m certain of that - I remember him playing Man Utd on his ownA bit left field but what about John Hartson? Great player but a really poor signing in that he was signed too late! I seem to remember us being linked with him months before he actually signed. What might have been...
also you say meaningless Cup game - it was the league cup and we lost 5-1 to lower league Tranmere... he was pretty much involved in most of their goalsBut signing a bad player doesn't mean the signing was necesarily bad. Signing Allissani for example could be viewed as bad because he hasn't made an impact but was a cheap young pickup from non league with no risk. Nuzzo for example was terrible but bought in on loan and played 1 game with the second string in a meaningless cup game, so what. Beavon was bought in as our only goal threat in a team fighting relegation and scored very little, much better player, much worse signing.
Signed on a pay per play deal. Sold for £6MM.I agree. Just trying to think of someone. He cost us £5mil right? What did we get for him again?

Yep, simply didn’t and couldn’t do it. Also had the cheek to ask Mark Robins to sign him for a third time last summer. Thinks the club owes him something for some reason.McSheff when he rejoined us?

Don't forget Mqwank. Those 3 and 400quid for Wilson!
Freddie Eastwood was a hell of a letdown.
