I think that's it, they're just doing their own finance option to help sales as an alternative to paying upfront rather than it being an ongoing mandatory payment. With the higher spec console approaching £500 it's a good idea, hopefully means Sony will copy

No, you have one monthly payment and get everything.

The alternative is buy the console and then pay for Xbox Live and Game Pass separately.

The xbox one s is £249.99, xbox officially released the price, not to shabby, I game mostly on pc but its nice to have a console to play with friends on fifa or even some of the single player games.

They did the same for the previous one, I got the Xbox One X using All Access and I think I can just upgrade when the new one is out.

No really feeling the Xbox S. Locked into paying the fixed xbox store prices for games. HDD supplied seems really poxy considering the top games range between 100 and 200 gb.

Same goes for the discless Ps5. I know it'll suit people but for me it's a false economy. I like picking up odd games on the cheap and secondhand whilst having the option to trade

I will get the smaller one I use gamepass but mainly on pc, 8 will get one as friends still ay fifa and that so it just makes sense rather than being a loner on pc I can hop on and catch a few games with them, but I'm not spending £450 on the better one as my pc is my main rig.

You are definitely gonna need to get an external if you want more than a few games on the go at any time.

Same as this, wouldn’t buy the disc less version as the online prices are extortionate. save about 15 quid a game on buying the disc of each game which ironically costs more to make!

Just read that Xbox are not supporting USB external drives and will instead only support memory extension cards:

Microsoft has announced that Seagate will be offering storage expansion cards for both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. In other words they’re a 2020's take on the memory card; something that fell out of fashion during the early days of the Xbox 360.

The cards plug into the back of the console, adding 1TB of extra storage to your Xbox. Microsoft promises that they take advantage of “the full speed and performance of the Xbox Velocity Architecture”, meaning they should be just as fast and reliable as the internal SSD.

The downside is that there won’t support external hard drives plugged into the USB port. If your games aren’t on the internal hard drive or one of Seagate’s expansion cards, you won’t be able to play them.

Was thinking the same. Then remembered everything I care about is PS exclusive and I can’t stand any of the MS IPs.

As a PS Now and PS Plus subscriber I’m hoping they offer something similar to the finance option for PS5. I’d be all over that. Hoping that developers use the extra power for 1080p games as well. Still not comfortable buying an underpowered console.

Retailers are to blame here. GameStop and the like rely on second hand trade and won’t stock the consoles if they undercut physical media prices.

That said I was fully digital last gen and while you might take a hit on brand new games, the sales means I very rarely paid full price for a game and picked up more than I could play.

Pisses me off on Switch though, the big Nintendo IPs never get a sale and are consistently £10-15 more digitally than physically.

Agree, personally would prefer a digital one and I guess it gives you £100 of that value to pay more for the titles (false economy in the end) but obviously it limits sharing titles which is a bit crap and tier 1 titles tend not to move price unless the next years version comes out, FIFA being the usual example of this.

Agree on the switch point too, Zelda hasn’t moved price since being released!

I game share with my brother so it works out cheaper for us anyway we only pay 25/30 per game, we can both play and don't have the inconvenience of disk.

It’s a huge move, Microsoft killed off a few of their previous studio purchases in the past which is a worry for the direction of Bethesda but the thought of not having fallout, elder scrolls etc on PlayStation is a huge shift back to Xbox

No apparently they released a statement saying it wasn't going to be exclusive but that could change.
