None of us are perfect, the last week has shown the worst sides of many. I'm not getting into who's right, I'm not excusing any of it, but we're generally a bunch of mostly men of a certain age, possibly some of us even dinosaurs and I don't think the large majority of posters set out to be offensive or want to constantly read about who is arguing with who or who is racist or right on or part of a pile up. Most imo want a bit of banter, to talk about the important stuff going on around us without being embroiled and to mostly talk about the city. I'd like to think I speak for 99% of the forum, well probably more like 90% of regular contributors and draw a line under the whole sorry mess.
When it's good, this place is really good. I think so much better than the Facebook or twitter ramblings and I can see a lot of infrequent contributors being put off if this continues and the place will be much poorer for it.

But last night it got to a point where it became apparent that not posting about football is apparently a bigger offence than posting racist shite.
Two regular posters decided that was the final straw and it's hard to blame them.

As above he requested people be banned for not posting about football and that request was taken more seriously than the numerous requests for racists to be banned. That was clearly the final straw for those two.
