Key League One fixtures (2 Viewers)

I'd echo this. We were league leaders for much of the first half of the season, and been in top 6 all the way, I would deem 7th a failure from that position. I don't care what we did last season, or what I would have taken before the season kicked off, you have to judge it purely on this season's merit. And it would be a failure of from this position we finished outside the top 6.

I wouldn't call for Mowbray to be sacked either, but we are allowed to scrutinise his decisions, etc.

Yep, what we thought pre-season is redundant. We have to look at the here and now and what we have done and how we have performed DURING the season.

We had a rough patch with injuries, but now pretty much look back to full strength.

We should surely now make the play-offs. Anything less is a failure.

Agree with that & that's coming from someone who would have taken staying up on the last day again at kick off v Wigan!

A Wigan win or a draw today hopefully, because if we can't make 2nd we don't need to catch Wigan to make the playoffs. Would prefer to stay as close to 2nd place as possible.
The big issue is as I see it is that Bradford and Peterborough have a run of very winnable games coming up, I can see them coming into it as they both have a game in hand

Looking at fixtures throughout March, a lot of top 6 teams play each other. Gillingham probably have the easiest March but that doesn't account for much in this league! Theres gonna be a lot of change over the next few weeks and will be interesting to watch.

I can see this happening with Burton too. They don't score enough goals and rely on a well-organised back line. Could they cope if they suddenly had a glut of defensive injuries like we've just come through?

I say say this but look at the predictor league I sum crap at this sort of stuff.

I know budgets are not everything but we have a top 8 budget.
If he finished 7th I would be massively disappointed. However I would take all factors into account and see it as a step in the right direction. The bigger picture for me would be the massive improvement the smaller picture would be the massive disappointment.
There are a lot of teams vying for those 4 places a lot can happen in football.
In my opinion isolating Mowbray's performance soley on the league position. Could leave him as a victim of his own success.
It would kind of be like Leicester been annoyed if they now didn't finish in the top 2 having been there for the majority of the season.

Hmm, maybe, but Leicester are punching well, well above their weight.

The same can't be said of us. There is much more parity in League One. No-one is looking at Coventry City and saying we shouldn't be there!

If Leicester finish top 6, that is a brilliant season for them.

Bang on Otis. Leicester are a poor example.

Out of the current top 6, I would imagine only Wigan and Millwall have bigger wage bills than us.

And if we do miss out on top 6, given we have 5 loanees in the starting line up and only 2 players in contract next season, it's hard to point to progress when there will be wholesale changes again.

Unfortunately the progress is finding a manager who can achieve under such circumstances.
3 others have tried and failed.
He would had took us above 8th bt borrowing other people's players.
Definite progress having him in charge of the team and a proper football man identifying targets for him.
The progress is how the ckub is now run which had been reflected by the performances on the pitch.
I will reserve my judgement on Mr Anderson as he has come on the back of that progress. So we will have to see if it continues under him or drops off?
17th to 7th in one season would be fantastic progress. that would need to be maintained.

To be fair I think there is only one currently calling for his head.
Then there a couple who would deem 7th as failure. Not sure if they would be calling for his head if that happened though?

I would say 7th is failure

A lot of errors have and will continue to be made to end up 7th

I agree with all of OP post except southend vs burton. I'm not giving up on 1st place and want southend to win or a draw. I dint think southend will make playoffs come may regardless of Monday result.

At the start of the season I would have said 7th was success. Just before Christmas I would have said 3rd a disappointment. Now top 6 a must. However if we don't make top 6 have we/TM really failed? I don't think so and we shouldn't be calling for the managers head. Without TM does anyone really think we would have arma, Murphy and the like.

There's two sides isn't there?

Mowbray is IMO undoubtedly doing better than most who have gone before him and should in all likelihood continue. But if he does drop off, as he has admitted he has before, then we need to see evidence he has a plan to address this. At this level it's all about making the most of your budget and TM/MV seem to be able to do that so it'd take some seriously bad results on the pitch to make it worthwhile getting rid.

Can't keep counting on others though and hopefully we have the bad spell out of our system and we can be good enough to be comfortable in the playoffs. I personally would like Millwall to be with us in the playoffs as to meet them in the final would be a cracking out so don't mind them winning.

Wigan winning are the Walsall wheels coming off (maybe should wait to ninety mins to make that statement)

Millwall move above us and Wigan in 2nd on current scores.
