People were angry at me when I suggested we should start our own youngsters over loaning them in from Prem teams.

Ponticelli scores 5, now everyone will be calling for his name on the team sheet. Deserves a spot on the bench if I've ever seen a player that does.

Especially when we don't have any strikers on the bench today :/

18 U18 goals from 20 games this season.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got an England call-up for one of the youth sides soon. A couple of others in the team wouldn't look out of place in that company either

Might be an Idea to Involve him on Tuesday night.

Yeah, even a place on the bench.

Finishing is natural so if you give him a ball and a goal he will put it in one on one so he will need to learn about the rest of it.

Yeah, good call, especially if Folivi is out. Fingers crossed he isn't, cos though I haven't seen him I am hoping he is that unknown entity that Wycombe can't plan against.

Can watch his videos for sure, but he has yet to play a game for us, so he would be deployed differently I feel.

My worry would be they do what they did with Thomas and stick him out wide or somewhere else.

Put him up with Beavon for at least half an hour at the end IMO.

I guess the next step for Ponticelli is to be regularly scoring for the U23's before being considered for the first team. How's be been when he has played for them?

U23s away to Colchester tonight (7pm) at their ground. Will be interesting to see who's part of the squad and who's not

@ccfc121 you appear to be right about the two lads not being offered pro terms. Not been part of the squad for the last couple of games, good decision for both parties as they can now find the next step in their lifes whatever or wherever it may be. Gives a few of our promising 16s a chance to step up to the bench too in their place like on Saturday

So, just two trialists. That means either Wharton and Nasseri and no Yakubu, or Yakubu and one of the others probably released.

Kwame Thomas is in though at last! Yay!!

1-0 up. Jordan Shipley.

Was really highly rated as an U18 & made his debut for the U21s as an U16. Hasn't had the same impact since turning pro so hopefully this goal will help him

From CCFC Twitter: 76 - SUB: Good performance from the returning Kwame Thomas, as he is replaced by Jordan Ponticelli. 0-1. #PUSB

Good to hear.

This game looks a cracker and Sunderland absolutely gutted to have lost after equalising in the 90th minute.

We look good at U18 level!

That's actually a college team, think Henley and Moreton Morrell have teams and they play other college teams. I believe we do have close links with the two teams though and if they are good enough they get to train with our U18s and possibly join them. Dave Busst and David Phillips run it/coach it I think

Always good to beat Sunderland though :D
