Hi

Does anybody know if it is possible to petition the Committee to investigate Sisu's running of our Club in a similar way as an online petition ( subject to a certain amount of petitioners)can force a debate in Parliament on a particular subject?

Regards.

It must be a yes as oldfiver was straight on here trying to convince us that it's already been done and no one needs to make a noise. His SISU being questioned alarm working in full swing this morning.

First thing we can all do is write/email our own MP's asking them to support Jim Cunninghams request. It doesn't matter whether they are Coventry MP's or not, the more MP's we can get making a noise about this the more likely it is to happen.

Oldfiver is partially correct, but I do not think Sisu have been called into a Commons Committee which is what I am suggesting, similar to how BHS Chairman Phillip Green was investigated.

Why can't the football league or FA take some steps to demand an answer to the clubs long term future?

If no answers are forthcoming then the golden share should be withdrawn, yes they'd probably take the FL to court but they're not very successful in that respect.

Whats to answer? They have us running on a non loss making basis. Isn't that what the fa want?
It's not good for us as fans but not every club has a sugar daddy willing to pump millions in and we cannot go back to the 90s spending other peoples money.

If the Golden Share was withdrawn then Otium would not be allowed to compete in the Football League. Coventry City is now only the trading name for Otium who are under the umbrella of sisu. It would certainly devalue ccfc but I suspect sisu would just take that on the chin. Whether the name ccfc can be taken by another group and continue I don't know but I suspect sisu do.

Maybe he could ask his mates at the Coventry Observer to look into it;)

Where are we playing at the end of next season?
What progress has been made on this promised stadium?
Where will our academy be playing next season?
We maybe running at breakeven (if we sell a player) However what is our long term plan to increase income through fan engagement and increasing attendances.
If the current way of running the business continues, the fall in attendances will eventually put the club out of business (if we don't unearth gems to sell)
Which also stems back to the original question about the academy above.

I would suggest us getting near to breakeven doesn't really cut it in terms of acceptably running a football club. We are not at breakeven and without player sales we never will be. The direction we are heading is the business going out of businesss,so I think there are one or two questions worth asking.

I agree, and the FL don't have the stomach or inclination to pursue answers.
However, something has to happen re: the ground situation very soon so things may come to a head.

The FL definitely don't.
What happened with Northampton was shocking.
They have clearly had the Michael extracted out of them as we haven't even bought land yet and the FL haven't even got the guts to ensure CCFC fans that we won't be going through that again!
MP's are a little bit more ballsy though especially if it suits their own agenda.

Always had to sell players, ask Garry Thompson about his move to WBA 1983!

I really don't know what's going to happen when are rental of the Ricoh runs out but I don't think it's going to be good news for CCFC.

That was to stay in the top division.

Not to try and achieve this mythical breakeven on the background of ever falling attendances, due to alienating your fan base and making numerous statements that have not come to fruition.
People have had enough to achieve breakeven you need to increase income as well as reducing costs.
Just doing it one way will never work as each time you cut costs your demand falls and income falls and breakeven stays one step ahead of you.
With the uncertainty over our academy that is very worrying as the academy is the only thing keeping the model afloat at the moment.

In the last 3-4 years how many players have we sold that are not from the academy?

Vincelot, Sordell?

I can't substantiate this but something tells me it will suit someone if the squeeze is put on us for both stadium and academy.
If it's quite obvious which way the legal action is going by then, then it really could be the finale in this saga

probably not a good idea for Fisher to be telling everyone about a million pound profit prior to any possible rent extension discussions.

Cunningham has already had an early day motion on this hasnt he?

I can honestly tell you that - so far as I know - I have no friends at the Observer nor spoken, written or any way communicated with any one there
Unlike some on here with a direct line to Simon Gilbert !

The issue isn't really running at break even which no one can really complain about. I wouldn't see football as a good investment. Either you go into football prepared to lose a lot of money or you don't go into football. This is probably the mistake that Sisu made.
The problem with Sisu is their style of break even which is simply to cut costs. They do not communicate, build positive relationships with local businesses or the local community or their own fans all of which would help to increase turnover and increase the break even figure. The truth is that they don't care about us as a football club.
If you factor in; The fiasco in taking us to Northampton, the lies about new grounds, the loss of the stadium, the imminent loss of the academy, the proposed sale of Ryton, the premature sale of any good players we have, the ongoing court cases which damage the club and will probably result in another ground move, the collapse in attendance, no long term plan, the decimation of the infrastructure of the club, the idea that everyone is to blame but them, particularly the fans, absentee owners, the continued fan unrest and protests, then I think there is a fair amount to be investigated. I am sure there is a lot more about Sisu and their running of the club that could be investigated. I would have thought that the definition of fit and proper owners is that when they decide to sell they leave that club in a state that it is fit for purpose. it is hard to argue that our club is in that state. If they need a test case to investigate we would surely be the one.

Yes,I probably picked the wrong analogy. An earlier poster implied that Sisu would not attend such a hearing, all I was trying to say was, that if summoned they would have to attend, I think.

What I have been trying to say for a whole but put in a far more succulent eloquent way.
By only cutting costs and striving to increase income it's model doomed to fail

They would attend as they profess that they have been stitched up. So what better platform to justify it.

And thats the problem with summoning one club. The whole culture of football in this country needs to change so that all clubs are self sustaining and able to be competitive while doing so.

Dragging Tim or Joy into Parliament will do nothing. They will just say thy have lost money in the past and can't / won't risk losing more so are trying to run the club as self sustaining. Taking out the emotion of football what response can their be to that?

They haven't lost a penny.
Maybe they could be required to Identify the true Investors and expose them to the funds that Sisu have lost them?

Firstly I don't think Joy would enjoy the publicity both from a personal and from a Sisu point of view. (Fisher might enjoy the publicity). Secondly, if the right questions are asked I think it would be an uncomfortable session for them.
Portsmouth are running their club at break even. They have hope and ambition. Every decision they make is for the good of the club. Sisu say they are doing the same here when in fact they are running us into the ground.

Where did he do that? Just used a famous case where a Select Committee was involved.

I mean there's Select Committees on everything, are we saying all those issues are of identical importance?

I can't get my head round judicial reviews, now we're talking early motions and committees! Will we ever be able to concentrate solely on football?!
