Robins on Talksport very soon! (6 Viewers)

It's a bit of a worry on the Fisher and Seppala being good people quip. Think the judges might have something to say on Seppala on that one.

Trouble is bridges have been burned. MR might well want everyone to pull together, but pretty much every fan wants Sisu out.

Going to be a big conflict I feel. As fans I think on the whole we have always backed the managers here, at first at least anyway, but that positive statement about the owners is not going to go down at all well with the fanbase.

Not a good start I don't think to wanting to get the fans on his side.

Oh yes, Robins should join the Trust. He's got to keep the owners sweet as much as possible, we don't want a terrible relationship between him and them as it'll only make things worse. He should have swerved that question but he answered in genuinely I believe.

The fans will love him if he wins games even if he says Hitler was right to bomb Coventry.

They'll hate him if he loses games even if he marches with a Sisu Out banner.

Such is the lot of a football manager.

Positive from Robins. He delivers it well and I like that ex players say he is a disciplinarian.

The negative side we have heard everything he just deliveried in various guises over the years from all the previous managers.

The only constant is how the club is run from the top unfortunately until that changes we will hear snippets of this speech again from someone else within 18 months.

If we end up challenging for promotion next season (yeah yeah, I know) the fans will bang on about how Fisher and SISU have learned from their mistakes, and how they're not that bad really.

Yeah, get that, but can't remember any other manager of ours being so glowing in their praise of our owners.

'Good people' flies in the face of what most fans think of them I would say.

He could have easily just said that these are people I do feel I can work with.

All any of us really want is a successful club. If Sisu finally manage that I'll (grudgingly) support them. I just have no faith that they can.

Thing is, as Blackpool especially proved, a one-off good season doesn't mean there are good owners hanging around. FWIW I believe Robins when he says he wants to build a club... I actually believe Fisher(!) when he says similar, but they're hamstrung by who owns us, and other external circumstances.

Therefore, a good season next season doesn't make it all well at the club. If anything, efforts to get them to sod off should intensify when we're winning, as it's more likely some gullible mug will be tempted to act in a momentary lapse of reason and buy us.

Most of that is pretty hard to argue with. The Fisher and Sepalla are good people bit is odd, to say the least, but he's worked with them and would have had more contact with them than anyone on here so who knows.
How hard is it to make a bloody database to keep things in? I'll make them one for free! Staff can use it while at the club, when they leave they dont have access to it.
A lot of scouting these days is done on line. There's a few systems (think one is called Scout7), basically you subscribe and get access to all players data, video etc. Even if we don't have something like that in place it can't be more than a phone call to get it set up.

This is the bit I love about the appointment of a new manger, the early press conferences, saying all the right things, the optimism.
Couple of months down the line, (weeks in Slades case), he's a wanker and you want him driven out of the club so you can go through the whole charade again!

I saw that when Googling, I have seen people even use Football Manager etc too as the databases are that well maintained!

Yep. That's why the minute things start going badly wrong the 'good people' comment will be thrown right back in his face.

At the moment it is still the new baby 'aww' stage filled with smiles and hugs. Give it a couple of weeks and it will get to the 'will you ever just stop fooking crying and go to sleep you annoying little purple faced brat?'

Robins was never going to say "they are shit owners but I need a job" ?
Its purely playing to the crowd, both up to the owners and down to the fans, like what has been previously stated, if he gets results then he is a hero and most will gloss over the previous failures and if he fails then he will become part of the problem.
I wish him every success and at least he sounds the part. He was very authoritative and believable on the radio.

No, not that we heard anyway and I doubt it. It was pre-recorded from this morning.

Interesting that he spoke to Talksport before other media. Same with TF...it's like they've become our official media outlet now.

Also interesting that he said TF is a good bloke. The whole situation just confuses me more and more....what good is he delivering to the club that encourages Robins to say things like that?!
Fisher pays his wages... he's not going to bite the hand that feeds him

Was I the only one listening who thought that perhaps something else is going on that may lead to the club changing hands sooner rather than later

If this is the case whatever the manager thinks of the selling party it wouldn't make sense to insult them while negotiations are going on

Time will tell

Yeah, I get that. It's just that he must know the animosity between the fans and TF...so why say something like that? He's no doubt media trained, why not swerve it or give a different answer along the lines of 'well the fans have their opinions...I'm here to make the fans happy by delivering on the pitch'.

Anything but 'he's a good bloke' would've been the answer I'd expect if he wanted to totally get the fans on side from the off.

I think that just reinforces something i have believed for a while though, that SISU are not going anywhere. Sometimes you have to work with twats to get stuff done.

I thought TM reinstated the scouting system when he took the job full time because SP had taken his laptop with him? What happened to it? Was it dismantlemed again the moment he left? Did it happen when he was still here? If it was was that TM's call or was the rug pulled from under his feet? Maybe it's a reflection on the playing budget and TM had no choice to dismantle it? By my reckoning that's the second time in as many years we've had to build a scouting system we apparently don't have. What is going on behind the scenes exactly? That statement alone asks more questions than it answers.

As for the owners looking for direction the only direction they need is to the door. Seriously if they don't have direction by now they never will. Sounds like MR has been sold a line or two to me.

That's Pressley, Mowbray and now Robins who have said the club has no infrastructure. Why? I thought Venus was putting that in place? I hope Venus is told to get on his bike

Surely TF has earned that right before Venus? Venus has only been here 5 minutes in comparison to Fisher and unlike Fisher Venus wasn't here pre Mowbray. What's Fishers excuse?

How different was Robins first interview to this one. Not much change has happened only the fact its got worse and the downward spiral is getting faster. The change to income stream is a question that needs answering by Tim, is Nuneaton really on the cards in the near future.

What is a scouting system though? Is it just a database of who scouts have gone and watched? If so, at our level, I can understand why managers would take it with them. If it's intellectual property that previous managers have collated, then they're entitled to it. That said, that would assume Robins would have one..maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.

I think we (not necessarily you big Tone), get hung on scouting systems. Ultimately, there's enough information out there that anyone can access to see who plays where. If you want to send a scout to go and watch, do so and then in simplest terms, record the feedback on an excel spreadsheet. Not that hard.

I don't think a scouting system essentially belongs to a manager, surely the club should be putting in place systems so they retain this information (business intelligence i think they call it thesedays)

Agreed but he could've swerved it. He would surely know the feeling towards TF.
I have a mate who runs his own engineering business and employs about 20 people and he is the biggest c**t in the world with regards how he treats some of his staff and customers but outside that environment he is a really nice family orientated guy , very generous and very supportive so it's a view taken that his staff think what a horrible c**t he is and I think he's a great guy. I don't know Fisher and therefore refer to all that I hear and read and make own opinion that he is a c**t

Here you go. This is what TM said he wanted before taking the job full time back in April 2015 'Match my ambition and I'll stay' Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray tells club

Here's what Waggott had to say Coventry City chief executive busy putting together a new scouting network

That was 2 years ago yet we are still apparently in the same same place structurally. What's the betting that give it two years we'll still be in the same place structurally but MR will be long gone and we're bottom of the league again with SP having just signed on as manager and the same nonsense about building the club, direction and good people gets regurgitated again. That's the pattern that seems to be forming anyway.

They have brought Ray Gooding back
If that is true I am well over the moon the guy is a legend with the youngsters. To boot I have spoken to him in the past at the White Lion and he comes across as a really likeable guy and his contacts and knowledge within in the game are still good

They let him bring his right hand man to deal with things like that didn't they?

I have to assume that something else is going on behind the scenes that makes MR more comfortable that it did before
