U23s against Ipswich at Portman Road (7pm): Addai (GK), Green, Thompson, Harries, Camwell, Sayoud, Bayliss, Shipley, Spence, Dev. Kelly-Evans (C), Smith.

Green is a 17 year old first year scholar who plays at right back. Northamptonshire lad. Been impressed by him this season, will be interesting to see how he fares tonight in his first U23 involvement

So now the regular season is over for the U18s, I thought I'd post up squad for ext season (hopefully). It's early yet and could be a few changes and additions. Age groups are in 2017/18 season.

U18s:

GK:
S.Naylor (second year)
T.Bilson (first year) - signed from Leicester
C.Tyler (U16) - played for Wales U15 this season

DEF:
R.McMahon (second year)
L.Green (second year)
L.White (first year)
A.Whitmore (first year)
D.Fixter (first year) - signed from Nottingham Forest
B.Rowe (U16) - England U15 camp this season

MID:
J.Eccles (second year)
B.Stedman (second year)
L.Doyle (second year)
S.Green (second year)
T.Johnson (second year)
G.Hunt (first year) - signed from Southampton
L.Rowe (first year) - signed from Wolves
J.Burroughs (first year)
C.McCann (U16) - England U15 camp this season
J.Ngandu (U16) - 3 goals for U18s this season as an U15. Injured at moment.

ATT:
M.Crowther (first year) - signed from Blackburn

Losing a strong second year group in Ponticelli, Finn, Hickman, Bayliss, Camwell etc. so will be interesting to see how they do. Expect the talented trio of B.Rowe (#5), J.Ngandu (#8 or #10) and C.McCann (#7) to play up.

Yes definitely, think this group could be really good. Natural footballers. Some good players further down too but the hardest challenge is keeping them. I think CCFC lost a good U14 to a local club recently - no idea if he was released (end of U14 season you either get released or offered a two year contract for U16s, no U15 age group) or the club paid for him/the player wanted to move.

Have we kept our cat2 status?

Not sure. Only the people at the top know/will know that.

What I do know is next years scholars signed their scholarship forms today for the next two years.

Goalkeeper Tom Bilson, right-back Aaron Whitmore, centre-back Lewis White, left-back Dylan Fixter, centre midfielders Jack Burroughs and Luke Rowe, attacking midfielder George Hunt and striker Morgan Crowther. Might be one or two more aswell.

Well done to our U16 side who beat Salford City's U18s 5-1 last night. This is a very exciting group as I have gone on record saying before with many good players but the next step of course is to see if they can get around the U18 squads

The 23s play Southampton behind closed doors today and the 18s have a tournament at WBA at the weekend against the hosts and QPR. They have one or two more games after that before flying out to Holland on the 31st for two weeks

I went to watch the u18's beat Wigan 6-5 very entertaining and some good performances including the first years. On the other pitch the U16's were playing I watched some of that game aswell during breaks of play and very impressed with their attacking play think it ended 5-5 so plenty of goals.Looked to be a few scouts about not 100% sure but thought I saw Dave Jones any idea what he's doing now, also is Costa Lautaru a new recruit haven't heard of him before.

Yes , it was Dave Jones at the game , i was also at the games Agree 16's look to have a lot of potential , from what i understand we only have a small core of under 16's so presumably a good few of the team were under 15!,not 100% sure but if that is correct very exciting group coming through.

Yeah I thought the Wigan lads looked older and had a couple of bigger lads.

I wasn't there but I heard Johnny Ngandu scored two fantastic goals - one each for 16s and 18s. The 16s also have a good centre half and a winger/attacking midfielder who went to England training camps for their age groups. Believe the striker (tall lad with blonde hair) is promising aswell.

Lautaru is from local football and he's a forward, one of this years new scholars. Needed an attacker as only had one in the age group.

Not sure on numbers but I'd guess over half are U15. Most of the current 16s will/already have got scholars

The next home game is against Stoke on Tuesday July 25th at 6pm

Anyone who follows the Academy will tell you there's a lot of hype around this U16 group of ours. Ticking along very nicely but let's just see.

The U18s fly out to the Netherlands today for two weeks today before the season starts, they play Dutch champions Feyenoord on Friday

Is that Jonathan lad in the U18s? Can't remember his last name, remember seeing a video where he is scoring from everywhere and anywhere.

Jonathan Ngandu.

He's been with them in pre-season but not sure whether he's going on tour. I think he would have been around the England squads too but he's been injured a lot.

He is ridiculously talented. He just needs to stay focused, keep impacting games and the rewards will follow.
