Yeh i was glad we didnt habe ameobi.

Have faith robins can mske anyone play and reod has the quality to deystroy leagur 2. But yeh of he doesnt put effort in he is no good to us

I don't see any quality or real pace either. Certainly no purpose. What I'd heard about him I expected a far better player

Jones is different as he's young and wants I assume to learn. He was with fans having pictures with him and the match ball after the game. Reid wouldn't do that - well he'd never have the match ball anyway.

I agree about jones

I thibk reid is capable of hsving games where he will dribble past everyone successfully(was it port valr when he scored that worldy?) And the cup fibal he was integral

But we need that week in week out and if robins thibks he cant manage to change him thrn hopefully he finds another club asap

I think that's bang on Grendel. I hadn't realised till watching the highlights quite how good the strike was for the third goal

Ameobi seemed almost disinterested to me. Like he'd given up as soon as they went one down. But then again, he's spent most of his career playing decent passing football at the toon, and probably can't be arsed suffering with the hoofball Notts County played. And most of that long ball stuff was just their keeper wanging it into the box. Shameful stuff, really.

Back on topic, I can see maybe one more loan, but the squad as it stands (Reid and Thomas aside) seem strong and unified. I've got a good feeling this year, and it's been thirty years since I last said that.

with some wages saved on reid and 500k coming for g thomas i wonder if robins is looking at a permanent signing before september or keeping the purse closed till winter window.

i dont mind saving it will xmass but think we need a winger now.

I hope so, I hope he's had an idea for a while or where he wants the money (if given) to go and he brings someone in accordingly. I think we're possibly one goal scorer off a brilliant team for this level.

What about that lad from Stevenage ?

The same lad Charlton are bidding £1.5million for? Ok then

Now Kyel Reid has hit the exit door, I'd love to see Moussa back at the Club, without a Club at present, knows this league, is capable of playing in different positions, knows the Club and MR, most importantly I believe he would score goals at this level.

Robins has done a great job so far. Shifted out Reid and Turnbull.
We need to keep Willis and need cover for Doyle. He will get suspended at some point and hopefully no injuries.
Also cover on the right for Vincenti. Somebody with more pace. Another loanee maybe?
Otherwise all going to plan I would suggest.
PUSB and well done to Robins and Whittingham.

No one questions jones commitment just his ability to make the grade at s higher level.

Players like Reid have zero team spirit or interest in anything but themselves.

I looked at Ameobe and thought that's exactly the type of player we'd have signed last season as a big name.

Spot on. We need to keep well clear of the likes of Ameobe and Reid and all the other washed up "has beens" who are after one last pay day on the back of historic reputations.
I think Duckens Nazon is going to be the business. Looks like a team player with hunger and passion.

Don't forget Jones is still only 19. Really raw and lots to learn. Should have been no where near the first team last season. Still think he will be a bit part squad player this season. Great hat trick on Saturday but he will get kicked off the park most weeks.

I disagree with statement he'll be a 'bit part squad player'. Clearly Robins and his teammates have faith in him and I think he has the talent to 'rip it up'. He's going to be an important player for us this year.

He's clearly been putting in the graft in preseason to improve his end-product: a scorcher against Nuneaton and a hat trick against Notts County.

Last season was not a good time to be playing 18yr olds in a tough division such as League 1, this year I feel like we'll be up around the playoffs at least I think.

We will see. Notts County were poor and didn't close him down.
Of course, I hope he has a great season and plays 40 plus games and scores 20 goals, but I doubt it.
25 starts and 15 off the bench and 10 goals will be a great return in my opinion.

We've JJ and Vincenti for the right, so much so that Vincenti was kept more on the left Saturday than his more natural right position as they interchanged.

It's left sided players we need rather than right in my eyes amongst other positions to strengthen

Were Notts County poor or were we good?

They couldn't close him down as he hit them on the break. They were chasing the game for the last 2 goals but couldn't break down our defence or midfield. For the last one they tried to close down the Duck. But he was too good for them.

Yes they might not be that good. But we also might be good for this level. We won't know for a few games yet. We will find out more at the weekend. Grimsby seem to have a similar budget to us.

Can't see another permanent coming into the fold in this window. I think we'll have to look to another 6 month loan to complete our signings. Hard to imagine much of the money gained from the Harries and Thomas transfers will be recuperated into the transfer kitty. Simply put we cannot afford to do that. Now we're in League 2 we're a player selling club more than ever - the transfer market is a significant source of income that keeps us more or less sustainable. Personally, I can see one more being sold, whether it's in this window or in January, but time will tell. With Reid gone, Robins will be likely looking for a replacement in that role or in the AM position.

i think we would get some of it for the team. even 200k could make a big difference

I admire your optimism, however I highly doubt we'd get anywhere near to 200K to use on the playing budget. You're right it could make a big difference, but other salaries amongst the club's staff also need paying. Not only this but the costs of upkeep at Ryton, the Ricoh rent, player medical costs, travel between games; I could go on. We're down on season tickets, which probably means we're down on hospitality and commercial revenue; so money is tighter than ever. This aspect of relegation is what proves so costly. So where's the money coming from to sustain the club? Certainly not SISU. We're no longer in the position to be pumping money on one aspect of the football club, we haven't been in a number of years. Despite this, I do think Robins will be given enough to bring in a loan in the next coming weeks though. He's said he wants 12 signings so I have faith he'll fulfil that. I just hope there will be enough money put aside for January.
