Officers briefed gullible editors in Jan 2013 the bank buyout/ACL bailout would see Sisu out in weeks

I expect the Trust bought into that.

I know it's probably been mentioned numerous times in this thread already, but ACL negotiating a sale to Wasps more than a YEAR before CCFC went to Northampton? Wow. That's a fucking game-changer right there.

Thing is, they were going to buy Wasps. The now owner of Wasps was also talking about it in 2012 before he had even bought them.

I do like the Trust Board Member's defence. It's Les Reid and this site just lying.

Wonder at what point people like CJ and Moz will see what I have been pointing out for years?

Its not like they will be disclosing it to other football clubs who could sneak in and steal it from them!

Absolutely. It's not like another sports club with no ties to the city would just march in and take our stadium, is it?

No, it won't change. Some people are so entrenched and have committed so much political capital on the idea that Council = good and SISU = bad that they would never climb down, I'm looking at the useful idiots on the Trust, JHW etc.

I'm afraid it only took a quick look at the comments section of the Telegraph story about this to confirm that, yep. Nothing will change, people have become far too entrenched. I don't know why I thought it'd be any different, to be honest.

If they have identified COUNCIL OWNED land and applied to the council to develop it for a stadium then I dont understand why they dont just declare the site, Its not like they will be disclosing it to other football clubs who could sneak in and steal it from them!
I wouldn't bet against it with this council.

Duggins is just tidying up a few things before he makes a statement.

In fact it could have the opposite effect with public declaration... where , it could put public ( fan ) pressure on the the council to pull their finger out either approve it or at the very least prevent them selling it off for some other venture just to stop SISU getting it.

All of this is presuming that statement is truthful & there is a site.. AND its viable for a stadium of course.

The problem with declaring the site of any development land is others will see and before you know it , it will be the WASPs new training ground!

I guess the Telegraph have been briefed by the same people as the Council and the people who do the council's PR job on Twitter?

Do they forget that Jon Sharp submitted a proposal to the council that included a groundshare and the council confirmed it?

I wonder if they will publish any of the emails about Wasps in 2012. I'd love to see the call logs between the council, Trust, Wasps, Telegraph and Weber Shandwick today.

Expecting Duggins to be on at 4 to say "drop the legals" over and over as well as "we will work with sisu like we would anybody else".

"Do they forget that Jon Sharp submitted a proposal to the council that included a groundshare and the council confirmed it?"
They actually said they could not oppose it , but not before they took several months and legal opinion to do that

Yeah, people just keep saying "yeah but the council can't oppose it as they can appeal to the government". They don't mention how they can make it virtually unworkable.

Exactly, they can make outrageous demands for supporting infrastructure hence Sisu’s request for “enabling development on reasonable terms”.

It is relevant to subsequent events though, it explains why when the council bailed out ACL it did not extend the lease to 125 years, it was suppressing the value ready for the Wasps takeover.

Yeah it all fits into place.

So when it was said "Why not extend the lease?" to ease the financial burden, there's your answer. They didn't want to ease the financial burden on ACL.

If The council wanted premiership rugby in the city, why not support Coventry Rugby Club?
Who was supposed to be stumping up the money to buy Wasps as was being proposed. Interesting that it ties in with the time the current owner, who didn't at that point own them, was talking to CRFC about a merger. All while Wasps were assuring their own fans any move from Wycombe would be back to London.

Some of the replies to the official CCFC Twitter show either how many uninformed people there are who go apeshit day in / day out or just people designed to mislead

Sisu have also revealed that they have identified a preferred site for a stadium in the city - and it is on council-owned land.

But they say the council is frustrating their efforts to buy the land.

The statement adds: “The Council is the owner of the site in question...SISU is trying to engage with it as the owner of the target site.

“The Council, however, has dragged its feet for a year now and little progress has been made."

If true then what the fuck are the council playing at!! They are destroying our club

Still the council seem to think if SISU sell up the legals will stop.
Would have thought they'd increase with a real vengeance.

The whole things gone too far now. The majority of fans will unfortunately ignore this statement and continue to just shout SISU out without looking at any other evidence about other people and orgnaisations being culpable.

Everyone should be held accountable for this mess but some fans are treating it rather bizarrely as "nailing ones colours to a mast" regardless.
