Any statement needs to challenged by linking up the known facts (not opinion) that are already out there. It should never be taken in isolation. Have to try as best can to keep an open but enquiring mind not just accept face value

Makes you wonder why the Trust, Telegraph and CWR have always been so willing to do that for nobody but SISU.

Radio presenters losing their shit live on air because somebody questions Wasps, to the point that their assistant has to apologise.

I think it's only really emerged over the last couple of years for many that maybe just maybe... Sisu aren't the only twunts in all this

That's what an expensive PR campaign for the Council, funded by the taxpayer, will do.

Morning all. I have done a search of the European Commission State Aid cases decisions database, and there is no record of any case with the keywords Ricoh, Wasps or Coventry. It may be that their search feature is absolute shite (or my ability to use it is) - i can't find entries for West Ham United, London Stadium, Olympic Park either, and i am pretty sure there was a case surrounding that.
So it may be that the Ricoh deal hasn't been referred to the EC for full investigation yet, or that no decisions have been taken.

On another note, i suspect CCC are shitting themselves that CCFC's stadium partner is Warwick Uni - that is one organisation CCC simply cannot afford to draw swords with!

It seems a bit rushed. They haven't got a response for certain things CCFC has said so I am not sure they were expecting it to be said.

I can't quite figure it out yet, there will be more to come.

The CCFC statement seemed very carefully prepared whereas the Wasps one is a bit more rushed.

Which suggests that CCFC at the very least suspected they were not going to conclude negotiations and prepared statements in advance.

Wonder if the announcement of the Uni thing is part of a 'shit sandwich' - two bits of good news with a bit of crap news in the middle.

The database only shows cases where there has been a decision. I'm sure we won't have to search for news of the decision once it's been made.

Only just started reading this thread, and it's increasing faster than I can read it, but thoughts / questions here.

Did the indemnity requirement that caused the problem last year require CCFC to indemnify Wasps and CCC (as the stated 3rd party)?

If so, then CCC would need to be involved to waive the indemnity requirement, as well as Wasps. I can't see CCC agreeing to that given the bad feeling between CCFC and CCC

So is there a rift developing between Wasps and CCC over this?

Exactly, they got in there first and did a good job. They had the local media and Sky Blue Trust onside and working with them.

This is really the important part of both statements. Thousands of fans didn't go to Northampton because they could see that Sisu were using the club as a pawn. I didn't go to Northampton but did go to St Andrews as last season it seemed the club had no where else to go. One of them is lying /playing with words. If it turns out to be Sisu and a deal at the Ricoh was there to be had then what is different now to our year in Northampton?
At the age of 63 I am wondering if I will ever see my team play in my city again. I wish they would all clear off, play their games elsewhere and leave our club alone.
Keep the faith we will be in our own stadium in 5 yrs just in time for your 70th birthday

Could there be a quick reverse of decision here? Now Coventry have confirmed we are at St. Andrews could that just force the issue with enough time remaining to come up with an 11th hour deal?

Me being hopeful I know but I don’t see how we last at St. Andrews.

Perhaps the "independent " observers in the room will be allowed to tell us?

If we are out of Coventry for 5 Years (that's 5 more years) what will the state of the club be? What will our attendances be? Will Sisu will continue to stop us from going under if Robins can't sell 2 or 3 players a season?
The statement about a new stadium is so tenuous. Sisu 'are having talks about entering into a partnership'. If we are depending on a new stadium on that side of the city, is it really going to take 5 years? The project name for the Ricoh was Arena 2000. It wasn't completed until 2005 and that was with the goodwill of all concerned.
I am sure Sisu's real target is the Ricoh still. All of the optimistic talk that Wasps are on their last legs is just guesswork. Maybe they will go bust in 6 months. Maybe they won't go bust at all. Nobody on here really knows. Maybe they will get a financial white knight that will save them and completely isolate us. Depending on Wasps demise to save us seems a very risky business.
Planning and building a new stadium while playing at the Ricoh was the ideal. Now, who knows where we will end up.

I’ve got a feeling ccc will invest

If they did, surely that would come under state aid or some other financial support limitation ? Investing in a company that, as a Governmental body, they've already financially supported ?

Cant see how Wasp can survive unless CCC buy bonds or give them handouts.

No rugby for the last 4 months,
Drop in TV revenue,
No hotel casino conference revenue for the foreseeable future,
Losing at the moment £10m a year,
No crowds allowed when season restarts,
RFU in financial trouble,
No Christmas funfair and works parties,
No concerts,
No CCFC rent and F and B revenue on the horizon,
No stadium sponsorship deal,
No new training facility,
Bonds in freefall,
Please feel free to add more!

Its just ridiculous and totally unsustainable for them to carry on as a business. Surely the owners must be thinking of throwing in the towel sooner rather than later
They can’t carry on. Amateurs are running Wasps into the ground with no business sense at all. 12-18 months they will go into administration.

I'm not sure if they only appear once settled. There is a big long list if you filter by NUTS Code Warwickshire. Most of them are LSC / SFA ESF projects where prior permission was sought.

The relationship is so toxic and with both sides are seemingly beyond reconciliation, I just can’t see that happening.

Wasps cannot be looking at their position and think they can last this out. Their position has been steadily getting weaker year-on-year. I took my little brother to 2-3 games (free tickets) and the attendances have dropped off a cliff.

We cannot maintain our Championship status in Birmingham beyond next season. But, we really don’t have a choice.

Mutually assured destruction for both sides.

but does that still stand now that Wasps have seemingly closed the door on any further negotiations... if that’s the case then turn all energies into the partnership & building something, cut 5 years to 3 maybe. I couldn’t care less about the fucking roads & congestion at this stage.
Championship - league 1 yo yo club sounds not
I should imagine that Wasps are now in panic mode, having relied upon an agreement with CCFC. In my opinion, SISU have played a blinder in calling Wasp's bluff. If this results in Wasps going busy and leaving the Ricoh, so much the better.
Over the past 2 or 3 years SISU have backed the club 100% and got it running efficiently and now deserve out support. Their past faults and errors are in the past and cannot be changed, so why keep banging on about the past when there is now so much positivity around the club ?

While a little too enthusiastic about SISU, this is correct imho. It looks like relegation to L2 came as a bit of a shock to them but fortunately coincided with finally finding a manager who could deliver. That enabled them to keep the club on an even keel. They are not sugar daddies, but at least are running the club professionally - altho why it took so long is mystifying. My pet theory is that Seppalla has taken over.

The interesting thing is that the EU process is a long one and is also only the first stage. They will have known that from the start, but were prepared to sustain CCFC while the action went on.

It would help me if I understood how Hedge funds work......

Would it be cheaper to wait for the Ricoh to become available or for us to plough ahead and build our own stadium?

An assumption CCC would do a deal with SISU if Wasps disappeared.
More likely to fly in an Antarctic tiddlywinks team to rent it for nothing :)
