Except he literally wasn’t in team of the week and Danny Cowley said at half time they’re a number nine short of a good team. Other than that, this is spot on. So objective of you.

Was Robins just carried away by his social media or just buttering him up because he’s the only fit striker?

This is in danger of getting into those political situations where someone gets accused of being right wing because they’re not as left wing as someone else. Biamou deserves credit for his attitude and work ethic. Robins praising him to give him confidence when he is the only player available is the right thing to do, however, to call him exceptional yesterday is ridiculously over the top and why this topic becomes so divisive. Bakayoko puts in that exact same performance and is derided. A player can be just “okay”. It’s almost like because he doesn’t score enough goals, people have to overdo every performance to justify the fact he doesn’t score enough goals. I am not remotely “I want him to do badly” I just don’t think he is good enough for a championship squad and I think offering him a new deal would be telling about her clubs finances, even as a fourth choice.

That’s fair enough and I agree up to the point of second guessing Robins motives for the exceptional comment. I think it’s man management talking about contracts and given we have no idea if fans will be back in any numbers no one will have a clue about budgets

There's a difference between a player having a one off good game and being a long term solution. He could be in the team of the week and us need a better number 9.

He had a good game yesterday, led the line well, and did what the management team asked him to do.

Bakayoko has never ever got anywhere close
This is the madness I don’t understand. By all means like him and I wouldn’t want anyone to slate him, but in the 25 years I’ve supported City I have never known a player who is extremely limited get the rub of the green like he does. I’m all for positivity and backing our players, but it’s insane when some of the players who get slated like they do, yet max is apparently a king to some. He’s a striker and has an extremely limited amount of goals in a long period with the club. He’s obviously a nice guy, I like him as a bloke but his first touch is horrendous and his scoring record equally poor. I don’t understand why Bakayoko is so openly ridiculed and Biamou hailed as a hero when their abilities are indistinguishable

As an aside to this whole Biamou debate.

Surely...... Surely you can see that Biamou offers a good chunk more than Baka.

I would think Jones wages are covered by insurance

Maybe, are players insured individually or as a group? If it's individually, It must be close to the point now where no one will touch him and if they do, the premiums would be so expensive it wouldn't be worth it.

Players often have career ending insurance themselves and some International Federations (England for example) will compensate clubs if a player is injured while on International duty
In normal circumstances clubs don't have cover for their players as injuries are so frequent in the game
Some clubs could have cover for world class stars but the premiums would be huge

I'm OK with Max getting a new contract as third or fourth choice. We know his strengths and weaknesses pretty well. But in case anyone forgot:

- Enthusiastic and determined.
- Scores the occasional world-class goal
- Holds the ball up pretty well.
- Wins a lot of headed flick ons.

But

- Complete lack of composure when faced with a clear-cut chance.

I just wonder if some psychological help would be useful for his major weakness.

We have a new 4th choice presuming Baka is ditched in Fabio...its up to him to try and work his way up the ranks

You also have Oggy yesterday saying that he thought that he had an excellent game and that if Godden and Walker were fit he would play one of them alongside Biamou. He said this at the end of the game so was totally independent of anything that Robins might think or say. So that is two experienced footballers/ coaches with over a thousand top flight appearances between them, years of coaching experience both saying the same thing.
Biamou isn’t a great footballer (although he is a scorer of great goals), but he has done a job on the field. If we had the chance to swap him for someone like Grabben (minus the silly beard) or certainly Joao at Reading, no question, you would have those players. With the budget we have got that is not going to happen. As long as he continues to be a useful player, I can’t see the problem. I think too many people can’t see past their preconceived views of players.
I don’t agree with slating any player so long as they give of their best. I always think Bakayoko tries hard. I would have to agree with those who say that his impact in matches is minimal. To say that the performances of Biamou and Baka in games is on a par is just ignoring what has gone in games thus season. Baka has been largely anonymous and has never looked like scoring. Biamou has been a presence in games and should have scored more than he has.

Ahh yes that’s right we have Fábio Tavares the club unveiled him like we signed a top level premiership striker then to only tell us he’s for development in a window we needed a striker to come and scored the goals needed 🤣

There’s no way Robins would leave one of Godden or Walker on the bench to play Biamou.

How is it madness to point out the inaccuracy in Grendal's stats?

I was not saying Biamou is the greatest striker in the whole, just challenging an inaccurate reporting of his record. Saying he has scored fewer goals than he has and that he has been here longer than he has.

We don't have to take extreme views on everything and everyone. Biamou is not our greatest striker but he is nowhere near as bad as some make out.

We dont have the funds to bring in a third or fourth choice striker who is only going to play when we have an injury crisis, and even if we did, no one any better would put up with that.

Baka and Kastaneer will be moved on at the end of the season, and probably Hilssner and Jobello too, imho, so other strikers will arrive, and the youngsters will be expected to step up.

All we have to do, is survive this first season back at this level, and give MR time to build and continue to develop the squad, much like Luton have done.

it’s not distorted as league goals are the barometer to be interested in. You count goals against under 21 and in a cup that isn’t even recognised in goal charts

Next You will say he’s only started ex number of games and discount sub appearances - he’s scored counting play offs 14 league goals and none headed - it’s a fact and it’s a joke at 30 we’d offer him a new deal

I did not refer to cup goals just pointed out you didn't include play off goals.

I didn't refer to substitute appearances, just pointed out that you were wrong to say he gas played four year's worth of matches.

If we stay in the division we have to be ruthless, lot of deadwood to ditch including Max I’m afraid

If he's cheap max can hang around as 4th striker for me. He's trying his best and tbh whilst he's not outstanding, he's going okay. He's got alot of pressure on him atm. He has to scored one of those two chances yesterday. The header was close from an insanely good cross, under pressure. The left for drag wide early on was desperately poor. 4th choice behind walker and two others, I can handle.

Not quite sure why I bother.

Well done for counting up to four but frankly that's the easy part. Numbers can be a bit more complicated than that.

So would someone born on 31 December 2020 be one year old now?

Are you claiming he should have been scoring when out for nearly a year with an acl or when not picked?

Im saying he’s been here for 4 years sbs scored 14 league goals - including play offs - his record above league 2 is dire
